I have a usb one that connects to a phone or tablet. Got it for working on electronics.

Had a play with it using a phone but it really needs a bigger screen. I have a few tablets but they all need repair. To do the repairs I really need to use the camera!
To use the camera I need a working tablet .....

I have an old blowlamp which I'd like to get going, the leather 'cup' washer in the pump up bit has disintegrated long since, any idea where you could get replacements ?

Found in amongst things from my mum's house, my dad's toy farm animals and carts:

Stored in an old milk can, lid long gone:

My uncle tells me that's a milk can used with horse drawn milk floats - the clip on the back allowing it be hung on the side. I have a 1/2 pint measuring cup somewhere too.

My dad was born 1926, so they've got to be approaching 100 yrs old. I've seen a few of the bits over the years, but never all of it. What to do with it though - it's not boxed or pristine, it's been played with.


I last saw the clockwork Hornby engine in 1977-ish - all looks in working order, although battered.

I suspect the local auction house will make a small amount of commission from me. Chuck it in with all my 1970's Matchbox, Corgi and Dinky toys.

There is a massive interest now in creating model farms and any vintage farm modelling stuff is making silly money.

This was happening pre covid so it's not just a fad. I had a friend that was into it and he had a few Britians model tractors, etc from his childhood. Even in played with condition and unboxed they were worth silly money.

The (full size) tractor magazines have a few pages of model suppliers, seems like you can get most types and implements in various scales.

Acquired for a modest seven pounds a very early Black & Decker workbench.

I'd never seen one like this before, made from elegant alloy castings rather than box section steel.
According to Google, they were made in the early seventies, in County Durham.

I'm not going to have a go at stuff that's made in China, but nonetheless, I like having tools that were made in the UK.

Of course, it's damaged, but fixable; the lower part of the slot has gone AWOL

As it should be

I think I'll make a new piece and bolt it to the back.

Needs new handles too, but they're available as spares

I’ve got a workmate like that one, except mine has another set of folding legs on the bottom to make dual height. My father bought it about 1970 I would guess.

I've got one too. Also with the folding triangular legs. A couple of the stays are cracked through I splinted them with a piece of timber
