A post popped up offering some model railway magazines on my local FB reuse group, so I asked for them, and got them. The photo showed a wheelie bin with these magazines in them, and I intended to ask whether the bin was full. When I got there, it turned out that the answer would have been "yes, and the other two are as well". As they were only around the corner the lady offering them (who was clearing out a relative's house) said she'd bring them to me, which was handy as it would have been two car loads in my car. Now I have a load of model railway magazines, which I often like to read through in case I ever do anything about building a new layout to use all the track I've been gathering from car boot sales for years.

And yes, I was talking about trying to clear stuff out at home, as I've got far too much stuff. I did take ten or eleven books to the charity shop today, so I've made a start, it's just a pity I set myself back so far. And will I ever read them?

Being a Vauxhall/Bedford enthusiast I'm always on the lookout for "stuff" and these got thrust into my hands, nice old tins one in it's original packing, I assume it's probably ex Mod from the 60s, nice for the shelf

After having attempted to run my MS 361 again after a week when it essentially died at idle and never started again.
I've removed the carb and checked the mitering lever with the Zama tool it was slightly high so I've adjusted it .
Factory settings on the jets.
Reassembled, started almost instantly idles properly revs up immediately but catches the rev limiter spitting flames out of the exhaust so.
Made a thread and thanks to @JOEPRO and @angellonewolf I've got the perfect excuse to buy an ultrasonic cleaner

That's a 500g tub of grease sat atop it. Cast iron base, alu' table. Surprisingly quiet for a universal motor.

Got it for small work. Thin ply & wood.

It's not for a specific purpose, yet, but there are more & more occasions where I want, (thin ply, for example), to cut some section/piece for a task, & I'm having to go find a saw which isn't going to rip it to bits. Same with thin laths of wood & such. It's merely a convenience, currently.

I am dog sitting this weekend, so we are enjoying a few good walks and a bit of urban exploring.

Yesterday this set followed me home.

We acquired a log burner. Had a little fire last night to cure the paint on it.

I'm not decided if I like the false chimney. I'm tempted to get rid of it and just have a panel of rustic brickwork up the wall. Not sure if the flue stuck up the front of it will look great though.

It might look better once it's plastered and painted to match the room...

That's the dog's duck It's the only toy she doesn't rip to bits.

Yeah, I plan to fit a timber beam across it. The local farm auction regularly has bits of old timber/beams that will do the trick.
The company that fit it would only put a resin look-alike beam on there. They look fairly good, but i'd know it's not the real thing!

There's a minimum distance from the fire for combustible materials.
Mines 440mm and is compliant.

This one doesn't state a minimum so reverts to HETAS/Building Regs which is 750mm as I recall The lads fitting it said no problems just to put it along the top of the opening so that's where its going.

Get one of the tapered screw type slide hammers for removing the stuck injector seals , that can be a b#**#d to remove sometimes

Today I acquired the knowledge that
after you have taken down the florescent fitting that has been fitted to the garage ceiling for over 27 years,
it is a good idea to wash your hands before handling your new LED panel.

I now have LED illuminated paw prints on one of the new panels...
