You've definitely been bitten by the vice collecting bug!

I have a small collection too, if I see one going cheap & have some spare cash I usually buy it. I see it as an investment, vices always go up in value & if you buy right you can make money.

BTW if you spot any bargain wood vices let me know, especially a record No 52, 52 1/2 or a 53. Trying to buy a few for our Men's shed.

Thats a lot of copper! Steel is a similar density, would it be adequate to have a steel core with large copper faces cast around it?

Tungsten core and copper faces would be quite nice. I have a small lump of tungsten for a future project.

My sledge is a lump of 100mm steel round bar with a scaffold pole welded on , 7.5kg

Copper can easily put a burr on the edge of mild steel and it embeds into the surface too. I have ruined a couple of things using a thor hammer inappropriately before I learned.

Yeah you need to anneal a thor hammer once it starts to mushroom

I'd really like to make a mercury filled deadblow hammer. Density of 13.5g/ml, with a 100% packing density vs about 64% for lead spheres.

I'm thinking the only reason any part of it will last 37 years is as the ***ky 2 core ribbon cable will fail long before that as it has on both of these.

Made by Lorom, have a search of their catalogue, it might be a standard part.

The power adapter to the soldering iron packed in the other day. Replaced with a 30v10A supply. (I used the Blue supply to power a CB in the 70s still going strong ( Supplied leads are pants.)
