Today I come home to a new welding helmet.....even better it didn't cost me a penny....
A couple of weeks ago I went to the Lorch Show at Rotherham, it appears that visitors were entered into a prize draw...
Matt contacted me last week and it appears I won a new Lorch APR 900 Helmet.
One very very happy bunny here, mainly because a while ago my Optrel helmet bit the dust with a cracked lens unit, so I was in the market for a new mask.....

It appears stronger and better built than the Optrel, and the head band is definitely another level above the Optrel offering.
The view through the lens to the garden/field is on a slightly overcast day, plus I like the way the front lens sits away from the flat surface and doesn't roll around...
I'll try it out this weekend and see how it performs...

I bought a roll-around scaffold not long ago that was made in some exotic Asian locale. It was actually pretty good kit, other than a couple of welds that looked like they were squeezed out of a diarrhetic sparrow. The pigeonpoo welds on your trolley actually look pretty good by comparison.
Sometimes repairing something is easier than returning it, especially with large bulky things like the abovementioned scaffold, but whenever I do that, I send explanatory photos of the problem to the seller and (if possible) to the manufacturer, which sometimes pays off, as I've received quite a number of free replacement items over the years without having to return the repairable offending items.

today i aqquired an old warbird 18mm plug tester its a pressure chamber with 6 glass portholes to observe the plugs under pressure as in the cyl and was fitted with a hand crank magneto to provide the sparks
im modding it for testing magnetos being motored as an "endurance real world test" increasing pressure makes it harder to spark
ive silver soldered a new valve stem on and added an old steam boiler gauge and fitted a motley collection of old plugs to pressure test it with
il fit adaptors and fit new 14mm plugs ifound the warning about petrol soaked plugs i dare say it would blow the windows out
