A mis-stamped 8? Making it a half pound hammer.Two hammer heads, one is a Brades 1 1/2 lb, the other has an obscured makers mark, and this weird backwards 2 where the weight usually goes. Feels about 12oz. Any clues?
I'm not sure whats nicer ? the wood or the truck ?A lovely truck full of fire wood, gods knows what it is, it's very heavy, I'd usually manage to fill it level with the roof, but she has well over ton on there

About 15 years ago a distant relative bought an ex post office at auction to convert to a new home and sell on. A couple of days later he visits to find the place broken into and the old safe half way down the corridor on its way to the back door no mean feat given that model is 414kg. The guy comes to the conclusion that all that effort must mean that there was money in it so having no lifting gear and only a flat bed Mercedes truck at the time we were the obvious choice to get it moved the 20 miles to his home. Rollers, planks, pry bars, cheap come along winch and several hours later we had it moved.
It cost him nearly a grand for a safecracker (all above board and in police presence) to open in up to find absolutely nothing not even a spare key. The clue should have been the fact that the ex postmaster did a moonlight flit and as far as I know has never been seen again...
Anyway the locks got changed and the safe put into the back of an old outbuilding. Ten years later we moved that same safe back to a pub not 10m away from the old post office!. When the pub closed a few years later we were asked to remove the safe so it could be scrapped. I took pitty on it and rehomed it myself. I've not actually got anything to put in it other than spare car keys but couldn't see that old safe be scrapped after all the blood sweat and tears spent moving it.
