Today I acquired...........

A friend asked me for some help, which I gladly gave.
While working together, we chat, exchange news and joke about old times.

That alone was reward enough ...

At the end, the question whether I could do something with this:

Brand new core drills in M3, M4, M5, M6, M8, M10, M12 - each in the family pack.

Some taps and reamers.

Some 3.5mm end mills - unused, tremendously sharp ... I don't know, but the red on the label looks like blood ...

A roughing cutter 18mm that has already been run a bit and an apparently brand new slot drill cutter with TICN+ coating.

And two no doubt brand new finishing cutters that look like quite good provenance.


If I can do anything with them? If I can do anything with them?



I went there to help and was looking forward to a nice chat and perhaps a beer.
Heavily packed and slightly ashamed, I left again.

Yesterday I acquired some


some hole punches all apart from the 18mm seem pretty sharp on the edges but the cap head bolt is pretty stiff in the 18 so it'll have to go in the vice.
no idea what thickness they'll punch but I thought not a bad punt at a tenner .

Night viewing is pretty distance limited in total darkness but good for 5m to 10m, and daytime or assisted lighting gives excellent viewing for what they are.

I've turned off MD alerts on one as nearly fell over to the smell of pot at far end of the garden.....Not as if I even get an invite!

Jonsered are Husqvarna so it should be good quality.

The original name was Jonsereds. In 1978 Jonsereds was taken over by Electrolux, one year after Husqvarna.
Around 1983/84 Jonsered became the brand name, without the s at the end.
Electrolux spun off its chainsaw activities from the core group in 2006 and these operate under Husqvarna.
Jonsered and other brands continue to operate under Husqvarna.

For a few years now, Jonsered has officially no longer been sold in Germany, but in some neighbouring countries.

Some nostalgics (in the German chainsaw forum) swear by the quality of these saws, putting them above all other manufacturers - which is probably a bit of a fan's view, every manufacturer has stars and stinkers ...

... but certainly good saws. Can you recognise a model number?

Bargain. I go through 1.2mm mild steel without any trouble on my 11/16" one, I can't remember what the packet says they're rated to. Much easier than using a step drill as my electric drill was always smoking by the time I'd done three holes with it.
