These are well worth keeping in the truck. Got me and the odd customer out of a muddle. Can stick it on any v pulley so works for diggers and all sorts.

I don't know that one but we had them back in the 80's when I was running old BL and Ford cars it was just a brass nipple with a barb each end to be pushed into the hollow belt once it had been cut to length.Good thing, that.
In the offer is only a picture that can not be copied or enlarged, so the question: How is the connector designed?

I’ve never tried, but we went to an auto cross meeting on Hounslow Heath in about 1970 & it was really dusty so I tied a pair of my then girlfriends ( now wife)knickers over the trumpets on the twin SU’s. I had fantasized a bit about a piece with two cones, each threaded, one lefthand, one righthand that cuts into the hose material, but that raises the question of length, because the connector may have to go around tight radii ...
This story was common knowledge with us, which may as well be an urban myth
, I was told it dozens of times, even in driving school.It must have been in the early 1970s, I was in school, I remember a return trip home from the Baltic Sea, 1200 Beetle, it was dark and the alternator lamp came on.
A ladies stocking was used, but:
1) it didn't work very convincingly,
2) the Beetle engine has reserves when the fan isn't running and it's not too hot outside and
3) by the time we got home the battery was dead after all - the death of the battery was delayed by occasionally driving the alternator - the contol lamp went out or dim from time to time - and the fan will probably have been running along intemittently.
With a water cooled vehicle I wouldn't want to depend on it, but if nothing else is there ....

A half-handful of porridge worked for me, once.
I made sure to thoroughly flush the system out once I'd fitted a replacement rad, though.

And it was on a car I owned as a student - belt was probably as old as the car and I couldn't afford/didn't know enough to get a replacement.

As above really, most people have described it spot on.
Can’t remember the last one either @bricol but I’ve used them a lot for getting customers running again. Usually hydraulic pumps on machines and things. They don’t seem so keen on proper alignment and I think that wears the edges of the V. Timberwolf chippers are a pain for it.
