HP printers won't do well with some 'compatible' cartridges as the originals are filled under pressure, also refilling originals is the same.
I managed to find some online at eBay for my Deskjet 1220C iirc which, so far, are doing the job....much cheaper #fingers crossed
We're registered to the HP instant ink thing, on the free scheme, we don't print much at all so it's just free ink for us, if we occasionally go over the free allowance it's 10p a sheet, can't grumble at all.

I signed up this morning to enable the cartridges hoping do a bit more diagnostics, the HP Jailor very kindly unlocked them and I set to only to get the printhead missing code back when trying to print. Now I do need new cartridges as the factory reset has done a fierce ink purge and emptied them, it will not proceed until the new cartridges arrive from HP! I was looking at getting a new printer as my Epson Photo printer and Epson Photo Scanner are old and will not work on newer versions of Windoze plus the printhead is not well on that one too.

] won't work with newer versions of Windoze because Epson steadfastly refuse to produce an appropriate driver to enable that - that's why I keep an old l/top with Win XP purely for scanning now. It's a bit of a faff, scanning and then copying the result(s) onto a USB flash drive but I can then transfer the files into either Win 7 [desktop] or Win 10 on my laptop.There are workarounds to fix that, but I never had much success & gave up. Google is your friend if you want to try for yourself though.

I have had the scanner working under 8.1 using another driver but it’s a bit flaky and none of the old features are there. I suppose the printer and scanner are best part of 20 years old though.
Anyway, that’s set aside as I have a new toy today after posting in the toolbox thread, just hope it will go in the car and truck!

Two weeks ago I acquired the knowledge that I can not move in my garage, I can not use anything in my garage and I certainly can not acquire any more machinery until I have more space, some uncluttered floor to stand on and a replacement for the temporary set up I made for the Drummond two and a half years ago.
It has been hard work but...
The Drummond has a new permanent home and I have some free floor space that will allow me to use it.
The bench has three sets of legs which is generally not a good idea except the Drummond has all the weight on the left hand side where it would have originally bolted to a cast iron chip tray. The plan is to build a 18mm ply cupboard carcase under each side, probably with shelves for materials storage boxes to the left and a set of draws to the right. It was planned to take a metal 5 or 7 draw tool chest to the right but I have gone off that idea, I'll probably post again in two years showing pictures of the solution.
For now it is time to do more sorting out, need more space, need more machinery.

Today I acquired the ability to breathe some fresh air after spending 2 & half weeks in an air-conditioned hospital, ambulance home last night arrived back at 11:00. Those ambulance stretchers are definitely built to keep you in one location, not for comfort. The crazy thing is I have to go back again Monday morning hopefully I get to come home again afterwards though.
Now with a smaller looking leg hopefully less infected skin, mussel and tissue also a few of bits of dead bone gone.
Now just got to get through the next 8 weeks without putting any weight through my left leg.
Am determined to spend some time getting back up to speed with Fusion 360 if I can stay awake.
I have a mini vacuum pump thing about the size of a cigarette packet strapped to my leg at the moment that is disposable and turns itself off after 7 days can't wait to pull it apart and see what's inside.

Nearly ended up with a longer stay as they ended putting a C19 patient in with us, was admitted in his local hospital and tested neg spent a week with them had a second test at 5 days transferred to London then got a positive result once he had been in with us. They wanted to send me home without a test even though I told them my mum is in the high-risk category.Sounds nasty. Glad you on the mend
Luckily I got my all-clear result Friday afternoon.

I did a skip rescue of a roll of plastic clear pipe, the guy said it was no good as it had been made bad, i took a look and it gets thicker and thinner about every half metre giving it 6mm to about 10mm internal bore, perfect for connecting random sized pipes up i suspect it is some kind of medical tube.

Yep, just a low vacuum to draw anything up into the dressing. Don't know how much vacuum it pulls yet. Last year I had a big mains powered one that was powerful and helped to pull the wound closed as well as removing excess fluid. Seams crazy that small ones are disposable I would have expected the innards to be UV sterilised and put into new cases, some of the waste in the NHS is unbelievable.A metered morphine pump, or a pump to suck up any puss or wound secretions?

I've spent many an hour arguing with epson scan and windows 10. My scanner also does large negatives and it also works with my brand new laptop. I found a version of epson scan that works with windows 10 and I've just kept it, I refuse to pay for vue scan because if you are a serious user it's actually rubbish and epson scan has better frame detect on 35mm and medium format

Well it just goes to show one size does not fit all, I love Vue Scan and could never get on with Epson Scan or Silver Fast. Last week I scanned two rolls of 6x9 (2 1/4 x 3 1/4 in old money) negatives shot in the late 50's, using an Epson V700 scanning was easy, retouching all the scratches is taking ages.
