To stop people fretting I thought I'd best try something else. This didn't work either..

large tray ctric acid and heat leave quite a while (week or so) done well on something i derusted


doing that way your loosing some of the breaking force take the wheels off put over 2 tressels or tables then try removing as then gravity will help as your sliding the hammer

only problem i can see doing it as you are or as i described would be if the deak is weaker than the rusted on joint and pulls the motor through the deak of the mower

We used to have a 3’ cut ex-council mower, that had a large aluminium disk that took combine harvester knives. Proper scary when one got ripped out on ruff ground

a new wood burner the old one bit the dust after 25 years of abuse
fitted in but initial results were dissapointing till i twigged sic ,the jackdaws had been working on the chimney 'unlined , for the past two weeks it was out of service
so sweep is booked this,week
it certainly burns very slowly with little ash
so should be spot on with more draught
handy for a bit forging when the mrs is at work

bottom one is for under pan for quick start top one as is now is open and used more so when you are using wood however i did use it as a glass wash and to cerculate the smoke a little nore from the coal

also used to slow down the burn but i was naughty

rocket stove inside of one of them to note it had a fire brick deflector plate on his stove so was able to test it

i also got 4 hrs of heat out of it for doing it that way with soft wood

Today I acquired a new pressure switch for my air compressor; many here might have read about the weekend's exploits elsewhere...

This Italian NE-MA switch is much, much beefier than the Chinese Lefoo originally fitted to my FIAC - several times the weight.

Just took delivery of this today.

A couple of slivers of 113lb rail, one from Truro this morning and the other from Newton Abbot just now, along with an 18" length of the same stuff that's firmly strapped to the trailer. Might see about cleaning the slivers up and having them coated with something , then mount them on either the front grille of the wagon or the back of the trailer as a decorative nod towards my main work.

The 18" piece is destined to be made into an anvil, time permitting .

Depending what thickness of sliver you want I have some slivers that are no use to me, I could post one out for postage cost. It would be rough so you would have to do any clean up etc.

By coincidence, I thought about chrome plating.

Mine are probably not slivers, they're well over 1" thick, but cleaned up with a sexy smooth chamfer on both sides and chromed, I reckon they'll look the dog's danglies on my front grille.

Talking of paperweights, a wobble-boxer that I knew quite well who stayed on the caravan site near Oban where me and my ex worked told me that his Dad had a brass "thing" on his desk. It turned out to be part of a firing mechanism from the SMS Derfflinger, one of the German Navy's 26,000 ton battlecruisers that was scuttled in Scapa Flow atfter the end of the Great War. Edit: SMS stands for Seiner Majestat Schiff, His Majesty's Ship in English, the German equivalent of HMS.

Having had the immense privilege of diving up there on the remains of the awesome 28,000 ton battleship that was the SMS Kronprinz Willhelm, I'd love to have something from there as a momento in my manroom. (To complement the 5 Rupee note paper that was destined for the Bank of India that went down in the SS Breda near Oban in 1939. And the perfect shell of a Sea Urchin. And a piece of a Serpulid Worm reef from Loch Crerran. And the collection of bottles dating back to the early 1800's. OH gazes round in wonder every time she brings me a pot of tea . Note to self: do more diving this year .)
