That really does look like a gas issue (ie not 100% pure argon),the label having argon plus on it is ringing the alarm bells here.
What is happening with the tungsten? fizzing and burning away?

Swapped the earth clamps over from the Mig set no difference and in the correct polarity

turns black and burns away but not too much
it’s the same gas we use and order from United welding it worked fine a few weeks ago then the machine let go
we had a lad come over that’s a full time fabricator and it’s was fine then started playing up half way through the evening
machine sent back then a brand new one used today with the same issue

when United is open next week we will be getting a new Lincoln 300 with cooler will try it then

Get something else mate honestly Lincoln are not going through a good time with their machines coming out of Poland and China at the minute, they’re having a race to the bottom just like ESAB.
As Tom pointed out the other day, one of their new machines has a 15% duty cycle at 100%!!
I’d be looking at a Lorch, EWM, Fronius, Rehm, Kemppi or Miller.
If you’re looking for a cheaper machine with more amps than the above honestly I’d just go for something really cheap throw away in 3-5 years.
I think we spoke about the millers in another thread. They are nice machines and very very good for aluminium, I’ve used Maxstars onsite in rain and frost and dust and they’ve been reliable. I’ve used Dynasty’s up to the 350DX daily, lovely machines, the old old 200s had a brilliant very hot arc. I’d say the arc on the 200 is hotter but harsher than the arc on my HT200.
New 400Dx wasn’t as good, and the guy I was demoing an ESAB to could really weld aluminium, like a robot. He didn’t take the ESAB, and he didn’t buy the 400DX. He had his old 300 repaired and bought a used 350.
I can only speak for Lorch machines that I’ve owned personally, plus a V300 that a company I was working at purchased.
Get some demos (maybe difficult given the current climate), or pop down to mine you’re welcome to play with my HandyTig to your hearts content.
A T300 or one up a V300 is a fantastic machine. A Tetrix 300 great well built machine.
Rehm great machines (not a lot of support over here though).
