That thread is galled and it has picked up and seized. I would say dirt ingress too. Very common on stainless steel fasteners if you are not careful.
It sure has, I find it extremely hard to believe that of all the machines with ER collets in this workshop that the one that only deals with wood, and is in a separate "clean" room is the only one that would have an issue with "dirt" ingress...plus I'd have felt it when I was putting it on.
Metric conduit thread; so, quick and simple to fix.
Yep, I'll be getting a die but I still want a replacement!
I had this happen on a Chinese spindle routing wood. Throw it away and replaced it.
Clean threads, no dirt, just one day galled so badly the collet could not be removed.
I run three Chinese spindles daily for 7+ years and it’s happen once.
So reading between the lines, of the 4 machines mentioned in this thread this has happened to 50% of them.

I think it's fair that it's replaced under warranty...since its happened under warranty.
If it was dirt I'd have felt it going on.
If you strip the spindle out .
Chase the thread on a lathe .
(i would happily sort it out for you )
Thanks for the offer John but it's not something I'd be up for dismantling for what they cost particularly when a die will sort it.....I've also got my own Harrison.
