Having owned, built and rebuilt and raced bike engined kits there not worth it compared to a fast car engines equivalent a busa clutch costs £2odd thousand and then there’s reverse you can have a seriously fast duratec cheaper

Two thirds of what I thought? Great!

Not really holding myself to any budget. The basic build is just some steel and the donor.
Once that’s together I can decide how fancy to get with brakes, body, shocks, clocks, seats etc etc.

Problem @MattH you are already out you thought of a price my recollection was it will cost 2\3 times your original figure never seen a build come in on budget

I want to scratch build. Hot rods don’t really float my boat.

A hot rod isn’t just some hill billies in a field with checked shirts and flat top hair cuts

Any car with a bigger engine is the pure definition of a hot rod

Like a mini with a vtec(hot rod)
Ford Fiesta with a v6(hot rod)

I know four people personally that had kit car businesses and they knew naff all about aerodynamics, steering, bump steer, or braking yet made a living realistically bodging cars together

Personally I’d prefer a corner weighted car that the chassis dynamics are sorted out not just guessed

I had a 2ltr zetec ka, would stay in the mirrors of any professionally built kit car

Always fancied building a seven style racer myself. I would like to use a flat 4 turbocharged subaru engine which will give a low cog but it would be a tight fit due to its width! A reliable 300 bhp & rwd in a car weighing very little, a recipe for fun!

There is a race series over here for kit cars, referred to as locaterfields! One of the guys runs a turbocharged bike engine which nothing else can touch. Unfortunately it has a bad habit of blowing engines leaving the more reliable duratec engined cars to fight it out.

A scratch build isn’t a kit car.

I’ve no interest in kit cars as all the interesting stuff is already done.

Hot Rods or heavily modified cars are also not of interest because I don’t want to take something existing and spend ages cutting it about.

Building a space frame and all the wishbones etc is what appeals to me.

I’m aware of that just thought you may have a different body in mind as it’s a generic copy of a 7

The fun is the build, the learning new skills.

If you worry about cost, it will stall and it be another "Part finished" project on the Bay.

I have buit a few and helped on a few. The "crac" is what you make it.
