still some with only a land line - post is a lifeline.
The BbC news said the other week. If it here in 5 years. It will be in private ownership or under government control.I agree, paperless offices and online everything must be putting RM under a lot of pressure, a hike in charges is inevitable to keep it afloat. Probably won’t be here in fifty years from now, I can see the couriers taking over postal delivery in the future.

I thought it was the only way, that or reinvestment, didn't realise they still posted paper bonds.Get it paid directly into your bank. One less piece of mail to worry about.
I think 5 years is to soon but if the mail side of RM is still with us in 15 years, I'd be surprised. The BbC news said the other week. If it here in 5 years. It will be in private ownership or under government control.
I'm pretty sure we do, but still get a notification by mailGet it paid directly into your bank. One less piece of mail to worry about.
Perhaps because delivery of mail by RM is a bit like USAs constitutional amendments, not impossible to be rid of but almost, our daily RM delivery service is enshrined in law.On a more constructive note, why they haven't reduced their (letter) deliveries to every other day I don't know (well I do know, it's in their SOP's). Do we really need letters delivered the next day? Anything that important now goes via email surely?
Not good for employment of posties I know but would cut costs dramatically would it not?
I've thought long and hard about this and I really can't think of anthing that RM delivers to me that I can't wait anoher day for. It's only ever bills, junk mail and the occasional £25 from NS&I.
What do you think @Wozzaaah?
I totally agree with you, but do they really need deliveries every day?... but there are many who rely on hard mail delivery for various reasons.
Yes.I totally agree with you, but do they really need deliveries every day?![]()
More money to be made, that's why.If you pay for next day special delivery that works though!
I don't think so, others will understandably differ in their views.I totally agree with you, but do they really need deliveries every day?![]()
Indeed sir!I don't think so, others will understandably differ in their views.
Do remember, imo, even if RM get every other day delivery they are just drip feeding the public, as is any Government as to what is going to happen, the goal, eventually, the end of RM postal delivery.Indeed sir!![]()
I don't actually know, but it wouldn't surprise me if they earn (and I use that term loosely!) more from delivering junk mail than they do from regular mail.I've got no problem with one or two post deliveries a week. But it would be nice to know what days they're going to deliver it, instead of the totally random deliveries we seem to get now.
Although having said that, I can't remember the last time I actually got something through the post that didn't go straight in the bin. Maybe if they focused on just delivering proper letters and not endless junk mail, they'd find it more profitable and easier to meet their obligations.
This last fortnight I’ve been thinking that we’ve not had much mail, checked our post box and it’s been empty. Then we get a mail dump ! I could live with mail delivery twice a week, if that helped RM outthats a big joke just had nearly all our mail delivered in one day suposedly 1st class and its took 10 days to get it all![]()
got my overdue tax return and hospital apointment 2 late last time pity. they didnt have any competition to speed it up
