A friend messaged me today that Letchworth council had their workers out this morning with leaf blowers!

Been sorting this over the last few days. Added a shelf behind the lathe, & nicked the top section from the floor standing lamp I had behind the lathe, & mounted it on the shelf.



This is the stand/arm assembly for the lamp. Turned the small bracket today, which the upright screws into. The 90° block is from an old coolant setup.





All nice & cosy with the ceiling lights off.

Nothing special I know, but it's the first time I've used a welder in well over a year I think and the first time I'd tried aluminium welding for much longer than that. Stupidly, I thought I'd start with a bit of aluminium to see how it went. A lot better than I expected.

I then went on and made a cube:

Some atrocious welds and some okay welds, but it was good to get some practice in again.

Might enquire on prices as to getting a couple cast at some point, I could use that as a pattern. Prohibitively expensive probably.

I’m toying with the idea of buying a tig welder, but it would have to be ac/dc to justify having it, and then the price starts to get right up there.....

Yesterday I made. couple of bits for the trike, using the plasma cutter I bought as a novelty when I was richer.

I can’t freehand it steadily enough, so cutting a plywood template to run around is less time consuming than grinding a bunch of steel off afterwards smoothing it up.







I also cut some pads that will stiffen up where the engine plate bolts to. Brackets to be added as required.

Water turtle is dead so I've made a funeral ,dig a hole ,put her in a improvised coffin and buried

Heating oil savers, all the knotty hard to split stuff that had the side branches made into smaller easier to split chunks with the chainsaw, might just be able to eek the oil out till spring!

Yup. Can’t see anything heavy going there so it’ll see some adhesive and I’ll bung a plug in like the others and annoy every visiting electrician

Day off and lousy outside, so faffed about in the shed.

OK it's not much and not exotic/clever - but I knocked up a thick worktop for my wee rollcab toolbox out of 10 sections of 45x45mm timber glued and screwed together, and then topped with some galv sheet.

It'll be handy to use the rollcab to plonk things on in the middle of my small workshed floor to work on, or of course to roll it outside.
