Made some good progress on the race car today, got the floor riveted on and the rear suspension painted, annoyingly though when cleaning the diff and changing its bearings ready for refitting I found some cracks in it

Yesterday and today, made the final (I hope) set of pegs. Just need to sort out anodising now.

Look great, clear coat them as they are?

A bit sharp and stabby for my liking, I once had a cbr6 gear lever poking out of the front soft bit of my ankle, my own fault for wearing the wrong footwear!

Thinking black would be best but second choice is clear. Hard anodised might actually be quite good as it goes a dark grey I believe but just not finding any place that does small jobs at a reasonable cost so likely will buy a kit and try myself.

They are not too bad, some are much more jagged for grip offroad. I always wear boots so not an issue.

So today I've worked on a thrash truck in the morning
And welded a lot this evening
Repaired some cracks on a CAT D4 carriage we are line boring and fittings new bushings on the carriage main pin and the sway bar.
Then I've repaired some cracks on a truck tire machine .
Then I've charged a shaft on three different journals (two bearings and an oil seal)
I've literally burnt a pack of electrodes ,I've didn't used a mig welder today.
I did yesterday to weld an exhaust cat.

Little bit funny Story ,boss started to weld a thing , after few seconds he called me to do it myself.
I think that I'm making progress and they recognise my little experience in welding

Just use them as they are, if you are not happy with then they can be changed relatively easily.

I would like them to not corrode and also anodising will make them a bit more wear resistant.

look great them but i would be rubbing some paper over knife edges.. The soles of your boots wont last 5 mins

They are not knife edge, they have a flat on the top.

...yea saw them flats on top, i meant slightly round the sharp square edges off. If i still had them i would take a pic of my boots after having a very similar type peg on my old Explorer 1200

I still need to de-burr them, not sure how I will do it though as I don't really want to get rid of the machining marks, kind of like them.

Didnt get photo but cut peices for the melter lid hinge. Raining before I could stick them.

Playing with wax. Found these two unused sockets as a mould.

I filled a 300mm length of 36mm ID tube, plan to try carving stuff.
Parrafin wax is likely the wrong sort for lost wax casting but I have plenty of it, huge shrinkage as it cools!

Don't have such a thing but would that not destroy the machining marks and also the engraved name on the side, it is only 0.1mm deep.

Close up of the engraving, lower case letters are 2.3mm high and depth of engraving is 0.1mm so I think bead blasting would destroy that.

Told a lie, just measured and they are only 2.1mm high

Possibly 'tape them off', with gaffer tape,
Or re-machine them after

Seeing as I dislocated my finger yesterday I am not able to weld today (can't bend to hold a torch) so I decided to try with a needle file and it is surprisingly quick and easy to break the edges. Takes about 5-10 mins a peg, if it was a production job I would be looking for a better/faster method but for this one off it will be fine.
