Cut some aluminium tube up and put some of it into the mill and milled out the ends.

Then cut some plates on the plasma.

Welded them together using my adjustable welding bench

Then fitted it to the boat, MCA coming tomorrow for an inspection and gunwale has to be 1m high or rails to 1m.

The alert ones will see I have more pads (also more stanchions) than on the rail itself, that is because the skipper whatsapp'd me sized but turns out it wasn't needed so long

I can't remember how many times I've used the bandsaw vice as a 3rd hand or to hold some odd bit to weld it!

stuff made today, well does a pile of rubbish count.? Bought a dozen inner tubes for tractor tyres for stock summer last year. Typical sizes, arrived nicely folded and bundled / tied together in the box, so left them like that. Went to get one today, it was split all the way along the fold, bugger says I, get another one, the same..... 7 out of 12 fit for the bin.... somehow they have deteriorated being stored in the box, out of sunlight and dry stored all cracked and split.. the bigger ones seemed to have faired better. inflated them and tested ok...fortunately the size I needed, one was ok...

Will need to order more, but this time will inflate them partially when the arrive and store them flat but not folded..... not a happy bunny...

Can I pay you for couple of foot of the thickest damaged rubber inner tube.. I'd like to give it to my lass on 12 June for her birthday ..

Strange as it may sound she'd really appreciate it as it's becoming very difficult to obtain around here .
She uses it cut into 15 mm x 30 mm strips to make protective wraps round branches on her bonsai trees to stop the shaping/ tensioning wires cutting into the barks and making the tree look like it's been hacked at by a numpty .

The edge on one bit is a bit off square but in my defence I have had a Cobra and a cider...

New balustrade in some council flats,this ,the first of many,has been 13 months in negotiations,gained the job,as one of the building control officers was a foreman on jobs I was contracted to 15 years ago,so recommended me.
Another 83 flats to do!
I’m going to need more labour.

Use nitrogen gas to do an inflation , let it out , then vac pack the bags so there's a little nitrogen coming out to inoculate the bag.

Natural & silicone rubber oxidizes / perishes on folds fairly quickly when exposed to warm moist air . Dusting them with talcum powder is also helpful .
Most decent tyre changing places only use a nitrogen gas to inflate tyres & tubes because of this problem .

That's definitely a better sectional cut ,.
Are you going to soak them in a white spirit diluted oil based varnish for a week or so to impregnate them with a weather resisting finish ?

It might also be a benefit to impregnate the basic square , let it dry for a few weeks then route out / mould the edges .. that ought to prevent the feathering of the porous end grains .

A little fill in job done while waiting for a delivery this morning, a couple of training blades for some eastern martial arts practice,

First picture is the "drawing" only dimensions are seven and a half inches by 2 inches wide, so drew a template out on a piece of card and cut them out of 5mm ally bar, customer was well pleased, apparently they are rather difficult to get hold of in this country.



And the ones I made, there are no sharp edges anywhere on them, the photo doesn't show it but the edges are actually quite "soft"

Good shout but he's getting these bits as is. They've had a bit of a sand and a quick brush with some clear Rustin's wood treatment as there are a few woodworm holes.

No piccy's , the camera is hiding some where in my mancupboard . ( The Bstd , its been hiding there for the last month or so )

I have to give myself a daily " sugar removal from my blood" self administered injection every morning around 08.15hrs when I'm still a bit groggy from the previous early evenings meds.
I've a sneaky feeling I've missed at least two of these injection . I'm also concerned that I may one day also give myself two doses and suffer some serious overdose effects that if caught in time will see me hospitalized VSI .

So I've drilled an 8 inch length of 35x35x 3 mm right angle aluminium with seven equidistance spaced 7.5 mm holes to allow me to load it up with seven days of needle packs ( which I've now labelled on the alu top face as Sun to Sat ). This enables me to see at a glance if I'm using the right days needles . Any thoughts of is it the right day I can just open up the computer and check the day of the week .
Once it's been emptied of needle pack it's a simple case of refilling the rack with new needle capsules for the next week.

I used to have the same problem with forgetting my basal insulin only I was taking it at night, when I remembered. I switched to taking it in the morning but it was running out during the night when I couldn't take any bolus insulin to stop my sugars going high!

My dia nurse switched me to Tresiba that I take in the morning but works for 36 hrs per dose so if you forget to take it you still have 12 hours to take the missed dose.
I've also started injecting myself as soon as I fit the needle, so if there's a needle on the pen I know I've had the insulin.

The result of this is that my hba1c results have drastically improved & are nearly within normal levels now.

I made some hex bosses the other day and attempted to film it. Another tenuous lead in to getting a few views on my channel

Made some pins for the side rollers for the Cat I am currently doing. 25mm Dia reduced to 24.5 over most of the 1m length so that they only seat on the bearings at either end, makes insertion and removal much easier.

Also made the 100mm dia x 200m long roller for the hauler, taken out for 6305 stainless bearings.

Put the new soft jaws on that I got yesterday and bored out to 1"

It was so that I could grip these spacers from an engines drive plate.

Turned the length down by half.

The finished spacers.

I then decided to modify the grooves I had put on the chuck the last day to ease setting the jaws. I made wides bands instead which makes it easier to judge.

I then made this up from some 110mm dia acetal.

It is to fit on the back of the lathes spindle so I could put an optical switch on instead of the prox. The magnet for the prox was picking up swarf as it passed through the spindle bore so I decided to get an slotted optical switch instead.
Fitted with a makeshift bracket which, knowing me, will likely never get changed
It works well and no more issues with swarf sticking to a magnet
