Today I made this, well actually last night but tested it out today.
Had to scrabble around for a bit of vero board and all I could find had loads of crap already soldered to it, so a lot of desoldering was required before I could start but it was worth it
It confirmed that the welder works the way I hoped

Yes, well for one of these.

I did get a remote but unfortunately it didn't allow me to alter the wire feed from the torch pot which was the condition I stated but unfortunately was missed That means my only option is to get the push pull torch with the controls on it. I could make up a remote myself with the buttons as above and it would be very cheap to do but I would have no display so it is not ideal but it may come to that if the torch works out too expensive.

I have no idea what your Lorch has but if it has an 8m push pull with the ability to alter wire feed and change jobs from it, then yes

Made this yesterday and tried it out for the first time today:

It's a very simple router extension thing made out of mild steel. 8 mm shank, 32 mm long to go into the biggest collet for my trim router (which came with 8 mm and 1/4" collets). Outer end is 22 mm diameter, 27 mm long, threaded 1.5 mm pitch and with an ER16 taper inside.

The router planing thing that I made way back on page 555 of this thread is great but the limited plunge travel of the trim router was meaning I couldn't "plane" really thin material without pulling the cutter out too far for comfort. I bought a router extension that uses ER16 collets from a Chinese seller on ebay, but it was FAR too long (the body was 50 mm compared to the 27 mm of mine) so I decided to just make my own. I also changed it to use a different sort of nut (that I already had) to the Chinese one: the Chinese one used a mini nut (19 mm by 1 mm pitch thread) for which the spanner is inserted from the face end. That meant that the cutter couldn't be fitted too close to the collet or the spanner had no access.

The flats on the shank were added to give me an easy way of getting the two ends concentric: I made the shank to be a very close fit in a test piece with a reamed 8 mm hole, then got a bit of scrap, cross-drilled and tapped M6 and then I put the cross-drilled piece in the lathe and drilled and reamed a hole 8 mm. That could then stay on the lathe and guarantee concentricity when the fledgling part was fitted. The flats (which were added with a hand file) gave the screws that held it in place something to hold on to.

Aye similar but not so many features.
The only features I need are wire feed adjustment and I want to be able to swap Jobs so I can go between Pulse and Super Pulse without having to go back to the wire feed unit.
The Analogue torch I can change wire feed but that is all although I could, I suppose, wire up another pot and alter voltage. I could also change programmes with it by setting the parameters so that a quick press on the trigger would cycle through them but I think when in programme mode the feeds and voltages etc are fixed. It is Jobs I need to be able to change and as far as I know that can't be done via the analogue torch.
The PC2 push pull has the display and 4 buttons which can control wire feed, voltage trim, change programmes and change jobs.

Just wish I didn't need the push pull though as I would be 1/6th the price for a standard length torch

BTW the remote I got I could more or less change anything but sadly it wouldn't allow me to use the pot for wire feed on the push pull so was no use for me
Shame really as it would have been excellent if it had been possible.
Basically it was the same as the display on my wire feed unit.

I made myself sick having to bore out a 100mm hole in a solid lump of six inch diameter nickel ally bronze.
The swarf owes three figures £££
Got to do the same to another lump tomorrow.

Had a bit of help though as I know one thing, I am getting too bl**dy old for these aerial acrobatics, gas cylinders up ladders aren't fun anymore. Anyhow, stuck a couple roof lights in a roof (after I built it) and raced the weather to get it all watertight. Rooflights in yesterday and cut the holes straight into the tarp for overnight, absolutely tanked it down. Really fine this afternoon but started to look ominous just as I was finishing.



Then all closed off and the lining felt installed, at least it is watertight. Bit of insulation and plasterboard next weekend I think. The weather doesn't look promising.

That gas torch looks familiar...looks like you have utilized a slate roof flashing kit,Whats your thoughts on finishing the light flashing?

Well, I took all the flashing off and took the felt al the way to the frames. Even if the flashing was removed, right now no water would get in. I had a choice of slate flashing or tile flashing by the way so slate it was. I might just go straight over with the top felt after I have hot tarred the flashing to the roof. Not sure yet, but very happy it is finally watertight.

And yes,I have stuck it down with Duct Tape for right now :-)

Good job Graham..hit the flashing tops with bitumen primer and the Rose felt will stick really well for life..front apron can go over the top of the field sheet. Nail the flashings into the board with clout nails before felt work as they will want to buckle when your applying heat if you dont.Any probs mate just give me a Whatsapp face call and will go through it with you

Taps fitted and new waste plumbed in. Not sure why I bought wrong length flex so only one tap connected up. Ceiling painted, floor or wallpaper tomorrow!

Sink shape is a pita to get adjustable/basin spanners up there!

Did you put the flexi pipes on the sink before you put the other ends on If not it helps tremendously , especially if you are using one of the twist to grip extended plumbers spanners to fasten the nut up tight .

Its more the tap nuts that were a problem, spanner only went on one way and about 5 degrees before hitting the sink. It was slow!
