How are you going to paint it for purpose? Or is it decorative?

It was at the maximum for putting a taper on the shaft, without faffing about with the tailstock. It is made out of aluminium, and it is to sit at the side of an electric, pretendy stove. The whole thing is purely aesthetic, and an excuse to get some ‘lathe time’ in. Finish, well it might just be good old black paint. I will make a little stand for the brush,
shovel, and poker.

It should be fine, then. I do seem to have a couple scampering about the house somewhere. Makes a change from mice the ‘lodger’ brings in.

I think I was concentrating so hard on the majik of making tapers, I forgot to double check the thickness of the shaft.

Rebuilt this.
But the coil pack is kaput.



Used some decent 3 core cable to wire this lamp up.
Been gathering dust for a few years.






Sorted and refilled this.

Why?



Had to do a correct job on this motor. New cables and crimps. Plus fitted the right pulley.

Oh Bother, I said. Meaning something else.



The flange fell apart. Not happy.



Jigged, clamped and silver soldered back into one peace.

Put it this way, the ‘lodger’ likes to eat the heads, and sometimes down to the waist of mice he catches. This leave me to pick up the bottom parts of mice, lying there, legs akimbo (the mice lying there in that position).

One occasion, the decapitated mouse lay on the nice new rug next to my bed. I picked it up in a paper towel, but didn’t realise the ‘empty’ top of it wadn’t covered in towel, and continued to wipe the mess off the rug. It was like wiping a big red bingo marker over my lovely clean, new rug.

I refuse to pick up bit of Norberts.

The Mini Shed I have got myself involved in, has helped someone today.
I supplied, the tools, the space and they proved the milk for coffee.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Shame it wasn't a couple of days ago, we had half a sheet of plasterboard in the hall leftover from new door frames being fitted but the joiners came back to clear up all the stuff they'd left. Where can I get a square foot of plasterboard then.

Take a thumbnail sized flake of paint to one of the places that do the magic paint colour match mix & get the smallest can they make sell made up then sell small touch up pots to other students with same wall colours. Remember to retain some for your own use in an airtight screw top jar till you leave the place I seem to remember I had to have a 2 litre can of made up Dulux , done to allow me to paint over where I'd run two new chased in & plastered wall sockets from the ceiling ( bungalow ) down into the lounge . The remainder of the paint is in a large plastic coffee jar , sat inverted on a shelf in the garage

The coffee au lait colour is a perfect match to the 6 yr old paint that had naturally aged a tiny bit . Think the £ 30 it cost was well spent , for I've had to touch up several more dings since then instead of doing a full room decoration ( all our rooms are the same colour on the walls . Plus carpeted throughout in the same coloured carpet as well ( Three left over spare bits of carpet are lining the floor of three large built in wardrobes , but are handy if needed .

why bother with plaster board, just put some filler over it and screw a piece of board to the top to stop it sagging / hold it in place, when dry take the board off, skim the top then paint when dry.

Finished making a slitting saw arbour for the Drummond.
I could easily have bought one but I need practice using the milling slide and I am still not great with turning to accurate dimension. The steel of unknown origin it pretty tough breaking into nice short chips with a carbide tool so hopefully it will be up to the light occasional use it will see.
The one inch bore and bolt in mandrel are a nice sliding fit and it gives me a run out of 0.02mm measured just inside the saw teeth so as an exercise in turning and milling on the old Drummond M I am well pleased.

Yer, go for it, if I were to make it again I would make the body shorter, it turned out longer than it looked on the fag packet design.
If it looks vaguely readable I will take a picture and post the scribbles tomorrow.

The house is being renovated when we move out and the doorway next to that wall into the kitchen is being bricked up so I'm not worried about painting it, it would probably be fine if I just explain what happened and leave it.

Only half the house knows what happened too and we're not letting on so the other four are coming up with theories of who/what did it, great fun.

Somebody on here recommended a squirty bottle with solvent proof container and pump.
Via ebay and quite cheap, but I don't recall who or what it was. They are available.

I think that was me, Recommended this to another fella on here since I've had 99% IPA in mine for months and hasn't reacted at all, Think its a certain plastic that isn't affected unlike the plastic cheap single-use sprayers are made with.

get a pressure sprayer and then it wont bother the mech.

Cheers! The space you can have over here for the cost is just unlike anything in England. I never thought I would have a garden with full size trees in it, yet here we are. Pretty, but loads of work!
