Hauler mounting box made up from 8mm 5083 and welded to the table. Angle is critical as the rope has to feed exactly into the centre of the plates with the rope in any position along the length of the gunwale roller. That means the hauler is tilted in two planes. If the hauler is not correct then the rope can easily ride on the edge and jump out and is potentially very dangerous as it could haul a man overboard quite easily. Other jobs done today were to remove the old Yamaha controls and cables and start making up mounting brackets for the Kobelt master/Slave controls.

The opposite actually, one of the girls I lived with last year asked me to make it for her. The last jar I made wasn't hot enough but this might have gone to the other extreme.Is that you getting your own back on your flatmates?
I'd been putting off making it until I could be certain the flies had gone.
Not made today, but finished today. A pair of tables. My first venture into the world of powder coating (well, paying someone else for powder coating) I think it could be a long time before I use a paintbrush or roller again. The finish is great (shame they got the colour wrong....) and I really hate painting.

I got some gates and the lathes control cabinet powder coated recently and like you it was the first thing I had ever got done, also like you I hate painting. I was surprised at the price of the getting stuff powder coated, I thought it would be a lot more expensive.

Is it the wrong color or shade if the color is completely wrong have them redo them . If it’s the shade it can happen we buy powder 250kg at a time and batches can vary more than you would think and 90% of my Powdercoating is green
The colour is supposed to be RAL 6011 and it looks a lot like 6017, I'm going to speak to them on Monday as it's supposed to colour match a feature wall. Being slightly off would be ok, but it's quite a long way off...
I'm hoping if it is down to the paint we can arrive at some sort of compromise with regards to re-doing it, as it really doesn't work with the room as it is and my customer will not accept it.

That was the shade I got my cabinet done and it came out close to my lathe colour, the picture doesn't quite show how close it is but it is , just newer/cleaner than the l;athe.

Today I unmade a lot of the work I did the last day
Turns out there just wasn't enough room on the table for the large 40" creels that the skipper has a few of so we had to adapt to a different setup for the hauler. Originally it was going to be an upright version but due to the skippers seat being behind where the hauler was going to be there wasn't the room to have the hydraulic motor protruding into the wheelhouse. A different style of seat has been ordered and the engine controls have been moved so now we have just enough room for the vertical hauler.
Still got a day or two work on this part as I need to relocate some controls, make a roller for the hauler and a side plate for the cut table but getting close to it being finished and I can move onto the rear section of the boat.

Thanks, I love retrofitting the machines but I suppose if I was doing it day in day out I would soon get fed up with it, at least the boat work I do is different every day as every boat is different and every skipper wants things to suit themselves.

Or technically gelato, pictured with a shot of espresso poured over (Affogato). Its also nice with a spoon of lemon curd.

Finally got my act together and sorted out the storage for TIG rods. Have a mezzanine level in the garage with heaps of storage above so have an overhanging area above to use.

Will the pipes not pop out of those clips ? Welding rods are pretty heavy.

The clips have actually been up and worked well with two tubes since January; it was today that I actually pulled the finger out and got the rest done as I had some aluminium rods arrive this week!
