Finally, on the last lap with the bench press. Just the ram to connect & it should be done. However, dopey here made the tolerances too fine and the layers of primer + paint meant that it wouldn't easily fit together...... It'd have been better if I'd left it bare, saving time, effort and money.

Aaaaanyway, here it is with a piston/gudgeon pin, con rod set up as a test of the space(s) and it's spot on for my [foreseeable] needs......





Now, what's next on the list? Oh yes........

Looking further across the joint I can see it now but at the edge it's near invisible.

Didn't fancy doing them yourself then.

Easy enough if the walls are good. When you have to work out of true it gets trickier.

Would have done them myself but don't have the kit. By the time I bought all the bits it worked out cheaper to get a joiner in. Walls were not great, one was about a degree or two off 90 the other was ok but they were not flat at all along the back by the cooker it's tight in the corners but bows in the middle to the tune of 12 or so mm. By the sink had a high point in middle of wall so ended up with gaps of about 10mm at the ends. All covered by tiles so no problem really.

Thanks. Space is a major limiting factor for stuff - I'd give a lot to have a garage or unit, but have to tailor builds according to the 'non-expanding' man cave.

Fitted the bushing on my router upside down and trashed a Jig. 120 quid later a new jig on the bench.

My workshop is an old (1994) shipping container. The doors leak and the corosion around them is pretty bad, it’s like the forth railbridge chasing the corrosion around. More patches than a quilt

To help keep the rain off the doors I’ve knocked up an awning. It’ll also help keep the doorway dry from the rain when I’m in it with the doors open. Roofing sheet from the scrapyard and some offcuts of 50x25x2.5 for the supports.

Total spend £12

This is it’s less photogenic side of the container as the otherside is freshly painted.

Starting stripping a Mountfield Empress mower down. It’s got a cast aluminium deck with a big ol’ hole in it.

Just contemplating whether to get it vapour blasted and powder coated.

Needs a few bits sorting on it.

Looks like the picture attached.

Mrs. Dad should be happy with it once it goes back. Reckons the self propelled drive hasn’t worked for years.

10/14 varitooth is what tuff saws recommended to me for cutting box, tube & angle. 6/10 is more for thicker or solid materials, if you use it on thinner stuff the teeth will break. You work on the principal of always having at least 3 teeth in contact with the metal.

I'll give that pitch a try before doing anything drastic with the saw.
Since I cleaned the tires the blade has stayed put so I think it worth keeping it standard.
It's quick to change blades so I could keep both types if I need to cut heavier stuff.

Ouch could be worse, my dad was having a kitchen put in and the joiner cut the sink opening in the wrong place and had to buy a new length of it. Not the end of the world you might say? well the worktop was about £210/length and he was only charging £250 for the job.

Today was yesterday and I made a room full of empty boxes at last

Which means we have a working (read not finished yet) kitchen.

Mason miter isn't to bad, I'm not overly happy with it but for my first one it'll do.
