Took a Lombardini LA65/58 oil engine back to life
Modified the Magneto to use an external ignition coil
Now I have to test run it to tune the carb and the ignition timing but It's runnable right now
If everything goes well I'll end up having an engine driven air compressor in few weeks
I have to figure out how to make a fuel tank for it
It requires straight gasoline to start and oil to run (I have to mix kerosene , gasoline and diesel to make the fuel mix, but I think it could run on 2 strokes fuel mix )
Anyway I have to make two fuel tanks and found a way to close the gasoline and open the oil line .

Must say i quite like his combo of mostly cooking but then quite a few bits of DIY.

Spent the last few days, converting a dead shed into useful timber. For me and MIS.
The longer slats and up rights were turned into 2 fence panels for a neighbour. Up shot I was left with some brown fence stain.



This is what I was left with.

So I turned it into this. Ignore the 4x4.



The 2x2 was ripped down to 2 x 1 and the slats cut to the smallest good length.



Framing out.
90% of the screws used were recycled. only 3" (75mm) ones were new, from my stock.




I loved the finish and the look of the reverse of the panel.



So I kept it.
This is when I stained/ swamped it with wood preserver. I kept this and did not stain it.




This is were it is going, behind my panel is my nice neighbours fence arrangements. A very ropy set up. I had to be very carefull removing mine.




In place, stained up and all back to normal


I even had a few bits left over.
So I made a table for the "Welders Arms".

Total cost for the Panels.

Less than £10, I think the wood stain cost my neighbour £7:50. A few screws, some sanding discs.

To me.
Nowt.
I salvaged a lot of screws, nails and wood.
The fixings were recycled to build the panels.
I used the remains of the stain for mine.

I got a bundle of wood for fires. Good dry and seasoned.
Will be good for metal recovery burns.

That's what I did yesterday
Fitted this Ducati (should mount on Lambro 400) coil on my lombardini .
Modified the Magneti Marelli magneto to feed the coil
Adjusted the timing and the points

After reading I've discovered that I'm at fairly good point to convert this engine from oil to gasoline because without any clue I've managed to make the things as I should have done if I wanted to do it

Later timing 1/3 of the original because I've made a mistake reading the manuals taking for good the part which explains the LA80-60 (another engine which can run on both oil or gasoline)

The manuals says to replace some parts of the carburettor to run on gasoline
I've had to replace the carburettor because the original is missing in some its essential parts
So I've installed a Briggs carb which is designed for gasoline

The spark plug should be replaced but it's a normal spark plug designed for gasoline

I have to change the engine oil ,make a fuel tank , put fuel mix (gasoline +2 strokes oil and lead additive) and use it
Obviously I have to secure the new parts
Those engines without any modification can run on straight gas without any issues .
With those accidental modifications can run much better on straight gas

Had a go at something I'd seen on this thread before, Milling table dovetail saver. Just some plates that stop swarf and oil getting into dovetails and hopefully making it a lot easier to clean after I've just spent a good hour doing a proper clean.

Would not want to use new sheet metal for this task so it started off life as a toolbox and 15 years later

Then it was folded to fit around the table.

And then made another to go under the vice.

Should save time, and no derogatory comments about the size of my mill

Well.
A tidy up led on to "things" being made.



3 brackets.
The idea was to test the saw I just dressed the teeth on Simple hand made bracket, from a shed(Again.) The other 2 have Half Housing Joints and Dowel joints. This Led me to putting a better angle on some chisels.

But the dowel joints made me:


Clean up and sharpen, with a slip stone my Chamfer cutter.
This made me pull out a Bit & Brace drill just for it. So the bit doesn't get los.
Famous last words.



One of my past restorations. A fine bit of 1960's build quality.

So I had some wood left over, still from the shed. Plus I knew a good friend would challenge me to use it all.



Using @Chillitt Rebate plane and the bits I got I hand cut this grove. Why?

Clean up the old vice that had came home to me.



The cleaning tank did little.

So, using old Alarm battery acid, flour and wire wool. Plus coffee.
We got the metal to this state.



Yes. I did use the correct PPE.
The acid from the batteries is a gel. I mix it with flour to form a paste.
That way I can dilute it with water, depending on how it works.

Then using a wire brush I gave it a good going over.
Then into the Blackening kit.



I need to locate some 1/4" bar to make a handle. But I forgot.

Framed out the roof for the gazebo. Was interesting doing it on the not very level block driveway but some wedges sorted that out. Lifted it on with the help of my wife, the neighbor (socially distanced of course) and an engine hoist. Pretty easy to move about once we got it up there. Also compacted the ground ready for slabs and applied copious geo fabric/weed barrier. Pretty pleased with how the joinery went given I'm no carpenter.
