I wondered how some of your stuff appeared to defy gravity, then realised that some pics needed orientating...

The big green one, it's fate.
Make an auto adjuster. Mean while it will be used, as 90% of the stuff I restore and save.

The smaller blue one, until I get a decent chuck, or chuck springs, a dust magnet.
Or I may trade it against something in the future.

@slim_boy_fat You should see the images in build I will not post.

Some will have;

Finished this yesterday; a present for a good friend who's wife will be throwing him a surprise 50th at a local distillery in a couple of hours! She left teaching, having been a languages and then guidance teacher before Christmas after thirty years in the profession - and is now a part-time potato inspector for the Scottish Gov't!

Mild steel with stainless hinge, sprayed in clear lacquer and has some sweets and a coin of each denomination inside to help him on his own way to retirement.

Thanks, hopefully he'll appreciate it when he gets round to opening it - yes, just letter stamps. The clear Hycote spray lacquer makes them stand out on the steel, strangely enough.

In between shouting at Virgin Media, I made this little spindle. Not much to look at, but sometimes I use a sort of one handed sewing awl stitcher. It has these plastic bobbins, and are a pain to refill, so I have promised myself for ages that I would do something about it.

I use an industrial bobbin winder mounted on a board, with a domestic sewing machine motor and pedal. It works great for the machine bobbins, and now I can undo one screw, and pop on a spindle to fit the sewing awl bobbins.

It now take about 30 or so seconds to fill each bobbin.

One question though, I could not get that bit metal to turn nicely. I tried changing speeds, cut depth, even the cutting tool, but obviously I’m missing something.

As @eLuSiVeMiTe says, some material just doesn't come up as well finished as you might want/need.
I sometimes resort to a gentle rub [while it's in the chuck] with either a smooth or very smooth file, or as said ^^

You could try using a vertical shear tool for the finishing cuts. It will only take a thou or so at at time, but even the nastiest steel will end up with a very respectable finish.

I’ve only ever played with it just to see what happened. I made LOADS of very fine almost fluffy swarf but it did give a remarkable finish on a bit of plain old scrap mild steel bar

I did grind one for a manly bit of steel after watching the above video actually.
Probably floating around in a giant box of tool steel somewhere.
