Mess somewhat tidied.


Not happy with it yet so will water the turf and leave it out, to lay tomorrow. A slope makes it significantly more difficult to get right than flat ground!

A bit more progress. There was point when "Sod it, thats enough" was said at the top and I laid the first few turfs.

Only, it wasnt enough. I hadnt quite dug as far as my line, so some adjustment needed tomorrow. I'll also fill a bit more and cut a circle to go around the tree.

The bottom is still somewhat higher than the surrounding grass and needs more work. I had the idea of watering the ground to help it settle, however that only made it stick to my boots then tear huge chunks out as I walked.

The yellow bag was empty on yesterdays pic, it now contains ~ 100kg of excess dirt.

Turf layers I have seen used scaffold boards to walk on, so as not to leave air pockets underneath the turf.

Tide up little bit my homeshop and found a 3/4" socket that went missing for months.
Fortunately it's a 23mm so I don't really need most likely but being 3/4" too I'll wouldn't surely need it more than twice in my entire life.
Anyways found it and I can now use it if I need.
I think last time it served to drive a bearing or something

Yes I've been using boards, not quite scaffolders length but more suited to the job.

Done, for now. Two and a third rolls left although they have suffered in places, I might wait to see how well they recover . Note the bottom left peice and the peice around tree are a bit black.

I could lay the extra rolls top down which would get about half way, or cut them long ways to get to the bottom. Dont really want to waste them.
I could ofcourse buy some, another 10 rolls should finish off that side of the path, however its a lot more digging and prep.

I'd feel stupid to buy turf having done it half and half, would have been much easier to level doing it all at once (and without the cherry!).

Made these for wifey's pop.
As stock they have a headlamp support bracket that goes from the chassis to under the wing to stop the wing taking the weight of the headlight. This is needed more so with fibreglass wings. I added small brackets to the chassis when I did the work on it. I made these to replace the stock ones (which wouldn't fit).
The other one is to be finished.

Do you know I've had to dig my mechanic pit using only a kango and a shovel ?
Excavator I've hired didn't manage to reach the required dept so the last 60cm of granite have been done manually.
I think there were at least 2 cubic meter of it left.
All in 4 hours roughly.

I'm enough skinny (not even 50kg), vernier for reference.
I can't lift things above abdomen height and I have to stay away from strong winds
It's been pretty hard for me, an easy task for most 25 years old but very challenging for me.

Real AR stock delivered today

It's a real FAB DEFENSE GRL-16 anti rattle stock that has replaced the chinesium Big Dragon stock originally mounted on my ICS M4A1

It fits a lot better and snaps in position very well with a minimum slack compared the one shown above

Here installed, only the pistol grip left to be replaced but I'll wait till next maintenance because will change pinion and crown gear shimming and seriously talking it's now perfect with only 0.03mm play and ain't going to touch it.

here's a close up of the new stock installed already containing EOTECH and An-Peq batteries in the dedicated compartment.
And speaking of them il probably paint the Peq in the same khaki grey used for the front grip and rail covers.
While the pistol grip will be replaced with a Magpul replica most likely
But I am already happy about how it looks now.

Your my hero for not chopping thepost down . the PO here we call Mr Nearly chopped both when he put in the farm gate and side lynch gate ..with predictable end results of the gate dropping away from the post BAST **D! .
Had some professional landscaper company charge me £22 k to fully land scape our rear areas . and install the 24 x 9foot tall H section concrete fence post round the hill side gardens whilst we were away with our caravan back in 2015 .

12 weeks ago whilst having to modify the whole rear garden for a new mancupboard & two disabled peoples buggies I had to take out six of the posts with a 1ton digger .All these post had been severely cut down by at least 2.5 feet and the posts propped up vertical in quick set . No wonder the cut down ones took a lean to the down hill side .. Both partners in the landscaping business are now dead!

It's a doddle if you have a medium breaker with a good chisel & point set , you let the machine do the work all you need to do is hold it lightly in an up right position and always break the rocks / concrete into a hole you have created , the only slightly difficult bit is making the first hole and not jamming the jumper tool .

For some 12 inch thick concrete we've sorted I've got my lass to work the digger arm raising & lowering it to lift /lower the breaker which I'd suspended from the bucket on several thickness of half inch rope .
Once in place she lowered it to its point and I pulled the trigger .
Later on to get at concrete out of reach of the bucket as it was down th side of the bungalow with only a 2 foot wide path way I lashed on two long scaffold poles to the bucket and suspended the breaker on the end of them

Made another hole, resined some rebar into the existing slab, popped the post in and a barrow of concrete

2 more barrow loads and I'm done in hand mixing

Should be gone off enough for the rain we're expecting tomorrow
