Square Whitworth nuts were mass produced for use long before 1950's to fit on farm & military machinery , coach bolts & long end threaded bars & still are,

Look for examples on stationary authentically refurbished engines , threshing machines etc. at shows as well as late Victorian horse drawn coaches & 80 yr or more old classic cars .

Pop square Whitworth nuts into your search engine for an interesting history lesson.

The first gates to go with the lattice posts,though these will hang off stone pillars,the low top eyes coincide with the best stones,there are more scrolls to add to compute pattern,then drop bolts on each plus a throw over loop. All scrolls forged.

Two different styles of brackets, not sure which I will use yet.
They are for the lights on the crash bars on my bike. Currently they are on with clamps but they are bulky and I want to try and make things neater.

So cut some 4mm alu.
Two like this, only have pics once folded and the ends milled at a 10 degree angle.

The other set are like this before folding.

A test of each on a bit of 25mm tube.

By looking at photos I have a feeling that it will interfere with the fairing or be very close to it hence the second design which will put the bracket about 25mm further out. I wont know until I get home and check, I also won't know if my 10 degree guess is correct or not

As I suspected the longer side mounting bracket will interfere with the plastics, in fact I can't even fit it into the correct position.

The smaller bracket however will be perfect.

My angle also seems to be about right, not massively important as the lights do have tilting capability but always good to have them as close to standard adjustment as possible

Made some removable heavy duty light brackets/arms. One of four. Unfortunately I *** em up do not happy. Been doing that a lot lately

On with 3x 6000l tanks at the moment. All 3 virtually identical. Still to be insulated and cladded, and alcoves for instruments cut in.

Need to pull my finger out, I'm meant to be off to Ireland to land them in the customers factory week after next.

A hoop on a stand, there for ballon displays, done one previously and was asked to make another, so I'm making 3 more in the hope to sell them on to other ballony type people, still needs fixings on the joins and painting but pretty much done
They end up like this, or with balloons fixed on.

3 pairs of landing hooks.

Stainless cut on the plasma and dressed up a bit.

Then folded them, bent some 8mm rod for eyes and welded on.

Previously I had my lights and camera fixed to the crash bars with clamps.

They are not exactly nice so I had made up some aluminium brackets and today I welded them on, I am happy with the results, a much cleaner look
I just spray painted them until I could get the bars powder coated but now I am wondering if I should as any damage to powder coating will be hard to touch up I think. It seems the finish on the bars may be electrostatically painted so I may leave them for the moment and see which way I will go.

Anyway some pics of the welded on brackets.

What are the landing hooks for please?

Bike - paint rather than plastic coating, lots easier to change / alter bits in the future. Simoniz Satin Tough Black usually for me.

Landing hooks are used to hook into the handles of fish boxes for lifting the boxes onto the pier from the boats when the tide is out.

Looking for a fine textured paint I think, not come up with much yet.
