Today, well last night, I fixed my 1/2 inch air impact gun.
It doesn't get much use as my Metabo battery one does pretty much everything but the air one is shorter and sometimes it the right tool.
It would not start intermittently so assumed stuck vanes.
Dismantled it and it was mankier than I expected but the bearings were fine.
To get it fully apart you need to destroy the rear sticker.
The vanes has small springs pushing them out that has mostly dissolved.
I had no springs that small so ordered something similar but 200mm long.
Before what was left of the springs made their way out the exhaust port, they scores the housing so I gave it a run with a hone.
When the spring arrived I cut them to size and put it back together.
Even treated the anvils to some hammer grease.
The trigger is a bit of a pain to assemble as there's a small circlip that I hadn't pliers for but it now works as it should and has more grunt than I remember.

A friend chucked out an electronic 13A timer. No display.
That was 6 months ago.
I thought that I'd have a look a couple of days ago to ser if I coukd fix it.

So did mine... the Citroen garage it came from did it ..
13.00 hrs. yesterday I get a strange warning light for the first time ever, " RHR stop light needs checking " .. It came back with them having replaced the bulb FOC. I like these Motability cars for that very reason . they'd replaced the light lens cluster as there was no tiny scratch mark on it . My maniac Welshman next door said the Berlingo E rear clusters are difficult to get out , without breaking of some locating tags. So £78 plus mark up & fitting time charges averted .

Went to use my laser level at a mates yesterday and the vertical line wouldn't work.. was working when I left home
Took it apart and have soldered the smallest wire.. not sure how I tinned the end as was guessing where it was most of the time..

Bit of fun, as other projects came to a pause.
Another Footprint Wrench.
You can see the surface rust, rhs, the lhs shows what a few strokes with a wire brush can do.
After degreasing, with brake cleaner it was left to soak in the Blackening solution.
The time needed to get a good finish depends on the metal.

Yesterday was a good day, much coffee, many hob nobs consumed, pie n chips as well.
A few MIS members who have issues came to my pad and we did some restoration of some recently donated items.
A wire brush attachment was used to clean the head up, plus it showed the damaged from hard use.
But we did find the original paint.
The beech shaft was cleaned with a cabinet scraper and sand paper.
A lesson in masking and rattle can painting.
Finished with Linseed oil.

The same member also did this.
The edge was badly chiped, the rubber grip was spliting. The end was badly mushroomed over.
Old paint removed, the cutting edge was dressed on a wet stone. The mushrooming was ground away and re shaped.

It did not take much effert to strip down.
That is the better end.
So it was dressed back on a sanding wheel, but the end grain did burn a bit.
Here you can see the head soaking in Linseed oil, look close. You can see the fluid level and how fast the head draws up the oil.

This garden weed sparyer is now going to be used to spray Mehs and other solvents.
The MIL tackled a car park entrance height restriction the other day with the roof box on and cracked the back out of it. I would have commended her on her lesson in spatial awareness and left them to it, but she was taking SWMBO to an appointment at the time so I felt somewhat obliged to fix it.
It's vac formed ABS by the smell of it so I didn't fancy my chances of glueing it and the break was a bit complex for trying to weld with acetone, but I have a roll of expanded aluminium mesh that I got for bee proofing air bricks so cut some strips and with the big solon soldering iron, welded it back together.
It's functional, not concourse, but surprisingly strong being repaired on multiple planes. Also cheaper than buying a new box and it looks better than most mk3 mondeo bumper repairs. I'll give it a bead of silicone on the inside to fully waterproof it and then I guess I'll have to refit it too because no good deed goes unpunished...

I repaired a vacuum-formed suitcase with superglue and sodium bicarbonate. It made several long airborne trips with no problems
But after a trip, when it came off the plane minus one wheel and with a chunk of plastic missing, it was consigned to the tip.
The glued cracks still hadn't failed.

In the previous post, you repainted and refinished a broken skutch hammer (the top's cracked off). I'd be inclined to repair the chisel in future too.
My short 1" chisel gets a lot of use for scraping/paring/wedging and being shorter, it's easier to hand sharpen and I'm not so precious about it staying razor sharp for woodwork. I'm sure you come across no end of knackered chisels though, so it's probably easier to clean up a slightly less abused example if you're trying to keep it to hand tools.

A few fixes today.
First up, the shredder. It works, but the collection bucket is useless, far too small, last about two letters and its full
But I have one of those wall mounted bins that you can but as big a refuse sack as you like on. So ten mins with a piece of scrap ply and a jigsaw later...
The old collection bucket has been relegated to the workshop wee bucket as it fits in a gap near the door
Second up, the cover behind the rear view mirror on the Kia, I took it off to fit a dash cam as you can get the power from there with an adapter. Of course, the clips snapped off, both sides, it should have a tab that sticks out about 6mm or so. I could get second hand one for about 30 quid, but most have at least one tab snapped off.
Its a funny shape and I didn't think that glue alone would fix it, so I was thinking about screws or rivets when I remembered the extra large heat shrink that I found when tidying up, I can't even remember buying it, could have been a Lidl or Aldi special as its German.
So, found a bit of aluminium angle in the scrap bin, cut off two 10mm wide slices, adjusted the angle a bit then glued it on, but I put some heat shrink around it and filled it with epoxy before heating it with the heat gun.
The bit of scrap angle is just there to hold it at the right angle of dangle but didn't really need it. 10 minutes later it was rock solid and very strong.
Finally, I remembered the fine kitchen grater that the youngest snapped while shaving parmesan about a year ago. I forgot to photograph it before but it snapped off near the top of the handle where the metal frame stops, i.e. the weakest point. The handle is a softish rubbery plastic. I was going to try and drill and pin it. But the heat shrink idea made me look at it differently.
The break wasn't straight, there was a bit of area to play with so glued that with epoxy first, then once that had set, used a nice wide bit of heat shrink, filled it with epoxy and shrunk it on. I need to wait for the excess glue to set so I can shave it off with a blade, but it already feels very strong. I shall give it the parmesan test tomorrow.
