Jag oil cooler leak, I fitted this second hand one about 13 years ago. I asked a local radiator shop if they could recore, no was the response.
I found a good aftermarket one a Berkshire Jag for £205, that was close enough. Wince.
The rubber mounts I had were a bit too big so did a bit of modifying, a couple of new holes.
Toped off with oil and refitted, job done.

The little Komatsu G300TS chainsaw lives again.
It had been either struggling to start with the brake off, or immediately cutting out when the brake was disengaged after starting for a while now.
Turns out I'm an idiot and there's a burr on the chain which was jamming it solid in the bar.
With the damaged chain removed it will start and run just fine, I have ordered a new chain for Monday, and a new bar for whenever it turns up, and then hopefully I have my top-handle chainsaw back.

Theses heaters are fantastic to keep a green house warm.
But, if left empty the wicks will absorb water and rust jam the wick gears. This always make the wicks rot. This come did come with spare wicks.
Don't force the wick geris, as they will break, bend or strip the teeth.
Soak them in 50-50 mix of paraffin and light oil.
The wicks will draw up the mix and in time free off the gears.
This one is post WW2, given away by the pop rivet holding the brass lamp ring in place.
Post WW2 there was a surplus of oil lamps, salvaged from bomb sites. or as people moved further into electric lights.
but as the Uk and Europe was still growing lots of food, Greenhouse heaters were in demand, so the old oil lamps parts were used.
New wicks, trimmed and now in use.

You've heard of welded diffs now get ready for welded hilti clutches! 
Te60 atc from auction had a bypassed control board so upon rewiring it I see it's got the silly service light problem hence bypassed but they also cut the electromagnetic clutch wires so I attempted to open it to see if I could just throw in a bridge rectifier and run it on 110vdc however it was encased in a brittle ceramic and broke so plan B of welding the clutch was implemented.

I got thi twin head iron the other day, it is meant to be meths" fueled.
You can see the fuel tank, but it is missing the absorbent material. it was originally "An Asbestos mat folded8 to 10 times."
But I think not.
So I raided the Mamod spares and used the old style Meths burner wadding.
It is alight here, honest gov.

My belt sander decided to self destruct.
So my original sander motor which I've been keeping 'just in case' for about 15 years
was transplanted into the broken one. Unfortunately the broken rotor was longer and had a different sized bearing one end. So a couple of adapters were designed and 3d printed.
Swapped the triggers over and now have a working sander again.

air springs time..
the old springs are a bit saggy, even for the amg spec its lower than it should be, the bottom coils are about to snap and im dragging over speed bumps. not good.
a set of new springs for the amg model is 3x the price of the standard springs, which are the same coil gap, same spring rate and same wire diameter. they are straight cut ends too. can you guess what i did?
that done i popped the old springs out.
and new springs and airbags in.
then ran the airlines
base ride height with airbags deflated is now right where it should be according to autodata...
and with the airbags aired up to 90psi...
the end result isn't to raise the ride height, but to level it when loaded, so the max ride height with the bags inflated is irrelevant, but its nice to check anyway

yes, superglue 
i know shortening springs slightly increases spring rate, but to be honest, its a bit soft from the factory anyway. but bear in mind, the shorter amg springs and the longer standard springs are the same spring wire diameter just different lengths, then all i did was what merc did anyway, which is take the standard springs and shorten them for the amg setup.

The tractor seems to be be fighting me all the way, after the puncture it seems the heater matrix decided to leak big time, got to strip an awful lot out to get to it!
Yuk!! Looks like a mouse has been living in the heater at some point

......hub off, driveshaft out, big torque wrench out....plus most the tools in the garage for a 10min job on most vehicles

Fixed the swirls in the paintwork today, DA polish and then wax for the first time in 6 years.

Had to chop a tree back today as it was banging on the house opposite.
Bit of a hack job using borrowed ladders and a pole saw.
Tree really wants to come down but it's living in a symbiotic relationship with the fence so it stays for now.

That air bag retrofit kit looks interesting where did you get it please? My daily driver w205 has factory AMG suspension but is very low.

The passenger door started playing up a week or two ago sometimes it would half latch other times not at all and when warmer it was ok.
So stripped the door down and removed the lock.
It turns out that the handle release mechanism was a bit gummed up. This lever here should be in this position at rest but was only slowly returning after the door handle had been pulled.
Easy fix to clean up and regrease.

Today I actually did some welding!! I had forgotten how lovely that sizzle of a nice mig weld can be. The cutter bar of the scythe bar mower snapped in two at a weak point- so it has been joined again- although I have no idea if it’s going to stay fixed. It does get rather abused- cutting well though thick brambles and small trees
