A roller at the back of my flailmower, it's dragged at maybe 5rpm.
The bearing was gone no balls anymore, shaft and outer race have more than 1mm play.
There were two 6206 ballbearings in and I am wondering if that would be ok? It is impossible to align with a little accuracy, so mabey it needs some of the selfadjusting ones like 11506?
My lathe is nowhere near big enough for this 150x1150 roller, so I'm thinking to put a few beads on the surfaces and file the shaft to size and maybe mill the bearingblocks out on the mill.

Small repair job:
Oops. This is one of the hazards of home renovation work. I hit a hidden nail with my Bosch hand planer, which complained about it by pulling out the nail and spewing out little chunks of the carbide planing knives as well as a few bits of the knife holders. Next time, I'll try to remember to use my hand metal detector before planing old boards.
Ordered new knives, knife holders, stops, and stop screws/washers. Installed the new parts today, smoothed out a couple of small dings in the plates, and checked the knives for depth and flatness within .001 inch. This is not a very expensive planer, but the parts (not counting the expendable knives) only came to about $27.00 including tax and postage (plus about an hour and a half of my time), so I guess it was worth fixing.

Bearings totally trashed as were the shafts on the roller - I ended up making a new roller and new bearings. That was 6 years ago and I've just had to replace one of the bearing sets. It was a total rebuild from an eBay basket case !

This item has been gathering dust for a whille now. It's future was not fixed.
Then again nor was it.
There is a hole in the top, But a steel screw has been sna[ped flush with the top.
A fine, new sharp drill allowed most to be removed.
Then taped to M4.
Then this was cut from the remains of a dead sheel case and hand filled.

This engine is undergoing a slow restoration, due to 5 days of enforced rest.
Doctors orders.
There isa lot wrong, plus one part I can not find.
Both steam pipes are either:
Broken.
Missing.
Cracked.
The Nut style fixing on top of the boiler can not be easily found. The size varies from whit to bsf to unf. The prefered method to repair is to find a dead engine and salvage the fixings. Or solder the pipe into place.
The level plug insert is stripped as well. As well as the plug is missing.
New inseert and plug soft soldered into place.
Fitting and bending the new pipesinto place. Trying to keep as much as the original pipe as posible.
Bottom left, by the valve had to be re soldered as it was cracked.
The top of the boiler steam pip is soldered into place, the pipes are now joined and soldered.
It was in steam, the safety valve was repaired with new seals. But the spring is worn, a new valve is on ordered.
More on this restoration as I get round to it.

Stanley fat max antivibe hammer. The plastic handle was loose and deemed unsafe by the hs man at work.
Removed handle filled with bathroom silicone drilled a 2.5 hole in the handle end to allow air to escape and pushed the steel handle home. Tested it today and it seems a reliable repair.
This hammer is said to be anti vibe anyone know how that works? Beats me.

Some badly done plumbing, A lid on the cold water tank so badly fitted it dropped enough to just keep the ballcock slightly open. No great problem really, there's an overflow that drains to the outside out the house. That hadn't been tightened properly so it drained to the inside, nicely central too so it's damaged the ceilings of three rooms.

Well it wasn't me who fixed it (except by complaining when I found out), but the insulation in our house finally arrived, after 8 years!!! Now we got 500mm+ instead of 100mm. I'm still somewhat impressed that we hadn't noticed it, it was when I started measuring the efficiency of my heat recovery ventilation that I finally bothered going up to the attic to check.

The reason for this was basically a mixup and it was all written down in their systems too, so even though that guy who oversaw our building project was no longer there. Could see he only ordered a portion of the insulation required, presumably because the ventilation ducts where not at that time installed. So the intent was to order the remaining insulation after the ventilation ducts where installed. But that was apparently forgotten.
At least we got it for free, I think we could claim damages or compensation for it but I don't think it's worth the hassle since we got the insulation. Looking forward to seeing how the house feels in the coming winter. The HRV system should be transformed by this.

Today I modified a a golf trolley by shortening the height and bringing the wheels in closer to carry a 12 litre air tank. It works, but the tank is actually too heavy for it as the wheel assemblies flex a bit too much. No worries though, the trolley only cost a Pound.

Fixed this old lady lamp. 
The fitting had snapped off, the plastic bolt holding it on was all brittle so I made a new one, not sure how it got so grubby but no ones ever gonna see it.
How does anybody survive without a lathe?
