I still use a microfiche viewer every day but ive now got a load of new cards with technical drawings I need to read, the viewer I use at present has a small "screen" so dug my old spare out which has a much bigger "screen" hoping I would be able to view all the drawing
Its minging inside, this is just one of many mirrors and lenses
Luckily it all cleaned up nice and the lamp is still ok trouble is I still cant view all the drawing so may have to see if I can get a different lens to make the image smaller, this one is 50X, ideally I would love some sort of scanner to digitise the drawings but think that may be over budget!

Bought a used Sunkko 709A battery tag welder off eBay - want to replace a few cells in my DeWalt battery pack. These welders are notorious for their high inrush current, and sure enough it trips the MCB on ring main that serves the bench where I want to use it. A 'B' rated MCB which this afternoon in a spare 5 minutes I upgraded to a 'C' curve breaker. Not sure how this sits with rules and regulations but it's done and it works OK now.

Finally managed to bring this brute (progress 2) home from my works yard after buying it off @zzr1200 (john) in 2019
had suffered to the red devil dust so spent a couple of days cleaning and re-wiring it to function as a drill and not a showcase..pleasantry surprised the 2 speed gearbox holds oil without leaks which is a bonus too. Thats 3 pillar drills here now, guys i have an illness

after 2 weeks of head scratching, fault finding, youtubing, and general taking apart of things.....finally got my fridge to go cold
........talk about making things wayyyy too complicated for what they do, and making things non repairable. Saved this hunk of domestic real estate from landfill for the sake of a £10 sensor.....which probably cost pence to make..........couldnt have happened at a worse time....the middle of a heat wave
When your faced with a prospect of a £500 PCB, £200+ labour charge.......and a displeased better half.....it concentrates the mind !

I fitted a new speed sensor and drive gear to the Surf's transfer box. I'd just got the old one out, with gear oil dribbling out, when the heavens opened! Finished the job, but was drenched! I miss having a workshop unit at times like this.
On the plus side, I did manage to avoid the drips of stinky gear oil
Ahh fellow Surfers!I'm in the same boat with my Surf, but the body/suspension lift and taller tyres gives me enough headroom to sit up underneath and work on it in the rain

We have one of those Panasonic fridge/freezers. Had it about 10 years and its been great, the best we have ever had, I don’t mean for not going wrong, but the durability, its very sturdy and all the drawers etc are still as good as new!after 2 weeks of head scratching, fault finding, youtubing, and general taking apart of things.....finally got my fridge to go cold
When your faced with a prospect of a £500 PCB, £200+ labour charge.......and a displeased better half.....it concentrates the mind !

That's why I was determined to try save it. Seems such a shame these days to just instantly dump domestic items over a certain age due to no supportWe have one of those Panasonic fridge/freezers. Had it about 10 years and its been great, the best we have ever had, I don’t mean for not going wrong, but the durability, its very sturdy and all the drawers etc are still as good as new!
What happened to yours and what did you replace for future reference
Returned from holiday and notice fridge temp rise. Flashes at 8deg, it's max temp indicated output on the panel, inside was actually 15+. Anyway, managed to find a Chinglish service manual, which was vague to say the least. Fault code H34. New PCB (£500) or new 3 way valve, approx £200+ parts to fit due to regass. Managed to find a new old stock PCB for £80, which didn't solve the issue, so saved myself £420 there, and now have a spare PCB
, the 3 way valve checked out electrically, but couldn't test mechanically so assumed that was working? No other solutions online it had to be one or the other? So decided on the next cheapest, fridge thermistor and defrost thermistor on the fridge heat exchanger.....this was a complete strip down of the fridge compartment to locate and change Turned out to be the defrost thermistor on the fridge heat exchanger buried right at the base.
Found a guy on the tube who had a different fault code, but similar issues, thought it was worth a shot.
Low and behold, following day cold milk on my shredded wheat

Plus the clock was ticking as her indoors had already ordered a bright shiny new fridge freezer for ££££s

This Valve tool will not be used to work on engines.
Found out that it can be used to help remove spilt collet seals on some Gas Supression systems.

This SEL 1550 Majpr came my way the other day.
Normaly I do a air trest on the engines. But being a SEL my adaptors did not fit. So we went into steam.
It was funning slowly, with some odd noises.
Then the vapour escaped.
The leaks are from.
Level plug, Safety Valve.
Steam collection port.
Whistle.
This was the pain.
Collection head was split.
The thread insert had failed.
The pipe is held in place by the nut and a brass olive forms the seal.
Using flux, a small, but hot flame we heated the whole assembly up.
It was a nice surprize to see the solder run and seal.
It was not a perfect repair, it shifted a bit. A bit of gentle bending of the steam pipe was needed.
What this still can not show is the power it is now producing, the great sound and no leaks.
This Bowman is not going to be restored, I think it will loose it's charm.
