We nearly bought a place in Old Leake but they wanted too much money for the state of it, were up near Louth now

Well not fixed but improved 
The S&B has sat on two bed posts since we moved in and I tripped over them once too often today.
After setting it on its feet and levelling with my builders level I took some test cuts using the two ring method. It was .004" larger on the tailstock end so after a small adjustment got it within a thou over 9".

Nice part of the world great butchers in Louth as i recall. The tarry toot as we called it as kids is wickes bitumastic emulsion is bloody useful stuff always have a tin about the place useful for a multitude of things. Not least waterproofing coracles.

I got fed up with punctures and fitted a solid "rubber" wheel problem solved. Bit expensive but seems indestructible .

Saw this in the WEEE skip on Friday and thought that looks good quality....I can't help myself.
Stripped it down and found it was simply calcified and took 5 minutes to clean and it runs sweet.
Checking online its a Jabsco pump so it is a good one, costs in the region of £2-300 depending where you buy!!!
I have a vision of a home made parts washer using a comercial stainless steel sink if I can find one cheap enough.

I'd double check that sticking a bigger piece of stock out the chuck 6" and not using the tailstock.Well not fixed but improved

It was just to check the tailstock alignment. I did the other test and it is good enough for an 80 year old lathe and the sort of things I do

I drilled out the two broken bolts on my Unimog Gearbox.
Alot easier than pulling the gearbox out.
One bolt I drilled dead on and I think a 10mm tap run up it will clean it up enough. The other I drilled a bit ****** so I will take it up to 12mm in order to true it up.
Should I tap it at 12mm or helicoil it? Bolts need done up to 160nm so not all the torque in the world.

Squeezing harder ended up with a ping and bust cheepo gun, thankfully in the very last fixing. They are hard work to use anyway so went the redneck fix with some M8 studding, will drive with ratchet or old cordless drill, I have some M16 studs to fix at the weekend so hope it works. It has got to be stronger than the original and should be a lot easier on the hands.

Fixed my new to me Black and Decker Workmate, much better nick than my old one and came with loads of the orange clamp dogs. But all 4 of the leg clips were broken, so I get a new set from amazon for 10 quid ish and fit them this morning.

Storm Eunice did quite a bit of damage here on the farm but thankfully no loss of life or limb.
One thing we lost was the 'Cap' off the top of one of our street lamps that light the farm yard- Quite large sheet metal affair that has totally vanished - no sign of it anywhere.
The result was that rain gets in and we were having constant RCD trips on the mains. First though was to put a plastic feed sack over it but it would be unsightly and probably come off in the next bit of wind.
Now my solution seeing as beer solves all problems - an inverted pint beer glass - light shines through and rain is shed away from the bayonet connector
