Oh I did not know there was a thread for stuff you have fixed, well my last post would fit better here then. But it's already posted so I will just link it:

A little add on for my vertical linisher. Uses the belts widely available from Lidl Aldi etc. Great for curved surfaces where a hard backing is not required. Took a bit of fettling on the tracking, but works great

not technically fixed but tested, dismantled, loaded, drove 100 miles, then unloaded a 4 post lift, 3.5T capacity with centre cross lift. Have a lot of expensive car / van bills coming up, and I've been humming and haaaaaing for a good while now whether I could justify one or not, but when I was getting quotes just for the van repairs at 1200 euros for work I can do myself with a lift... sod it, decided the time was right to go for one. Found this one for 750 euros, not too far away. Had a decent day out with a mate, my van and flatbed trailer...

now just got to pour a new foundation, 4.5m3 of concrete, and rebuild it in place, pull in a new cable / air line to it and recommission it.... will be far easier building it here than taking it apart, at least I can get in with the front loader forks on the tractor, so will be able to lift the ramps directly into place, the rest are manhandlable so not too difficult.....

Reckon it should pay for itself pretty quickly, as a fair bit of work coming up, this will be so much easier on the knees and back... already had the mates asking when will it be finished so they can borrow it.......... as soon as you come round and give me a hand with the concrete... hahah..
Hopefully next weekend will be able to dig the foundations out, and shutter it, then the following weekend be able to pour.. then wait til it hardens fully (28 days they recommend?).. hopefully, end of Nov should be operational... maybe, hopefully etc...

I'm sure my knees and back will thank me....

I've been led to believe it's more like 3 months for concrete to be fully cured.

that's what I thought too, but the manufacturer recommends a minimum of 3000psi rated concrete, and 28 days. Asked a mate who's a builder, he reckoned a month would be fine as well? not my speciality, any experts on concrete on here ?

When my work had groundwork done for ramps, everybody involved was happy for ramps to be fully loaded after 7 days.
Although that was with fibre reinforced concrete, and probably lots of accelerant.

Aye I reckon 28 days will be fine, will probably end up being longer anyway, as I can only really escape to get to work on it at the weekends (saturdays), so even though it might have the lift on the concrete, probably wont have any weight (car / van) on it for a while after that.

the next question was what type of anchor bolts would be best, conventional sleeve type or chemical? I'm thinking 20mm should be enough, can't find anything from the manufacturer, but the bolt holes are 20mm ish, so we'll go with that I'd reckon..

The lift is roughly 5m x 3m so we're allowing about 1 metre each side, 1 metre in front, and then 2.5 / 3m behind for the ramps depending on final placement (might be able to share some with an existing slab ). For the footings of the 4 columns we're planning doing 500 by 500 x 300mm deep. All reinforced with rebar, and that will be tying into the roughly 100mm thick slab, an all in one pour...Obviously we'll order the truck based on the final dimensions, but fag packet calcs come out somewhere between 4.5 and 5m3. The majority will be around 100mm thick, so a week per inch would be about the 4 weeks, albeit the footings for the columns would be thicker... think it should be right?

4 posters are pretty much self supporting so anchoring the feet isnt as critical as a 2 post lift so a couple of weeks would be fine for drying time, if your putting rebar in remember your going to want to drill the pad for fixings

aye, agreed, should be fairly stable, the guy we bought it from has only used a couple (instead of 4) of what looked like 10mm anchors in each corner so don't think it'll be a big problem but I'll go a wee bit heavier I think. We've inherited the owners manual, which nicely has a bolt hole layout drawing, so that'll be used for keeping the rebar areas clear for decent anchors.....
Will probably go with the sleeve type, as the concrete will be new, so should get a decent fixing.

2 weeks is standard around here for anything critical. Yes - critical - because the sheer overspec of anything critical makes sure it's absolutely fine

I put my uncle's old 2.5 ton 2 poster in my old shed on old concrete... 4-5" deep... worried about it for the first week and then forgot all about it

If you have the bolt pattern you could always make up some plates with threaded bar in to bury in the concrete?

If not I am a fan of chem fix

A luxury to have the opportunity to bury something worth using and sure its going to be a lot harder to pull through compared to some friction or chemicals as you say

Aye, thought of making up a bolt plate template, same as we use on site for street lamps bases, the only downside is you need to be absolutely spot on with the measurement, not sure I'd be happy to take that chance over 5 metres, as said they're pretty stable, so more to secure to the deck. Standard anchor bolts or chemical fixings will be fine.

Make a dummy base out of a plank and bolt it up before you cast it? If you see what I mean.

If it’s not taking much force then Chemfix will be fine

Aye that's an option, could do, but just as easy with anchor bolts, will have a look at chemical fixings as well, to see what's the craic.

Bury a plate in the concrete with the long bolts threaded upwards through it, with greased cones over them so when the concrete has set there is movement on the bolts. Place your pillars over the bolts and when wriggled into place grout in the bolts in the cones. Standard practice when building farm sheds.

I'm a big fan of chemical fixings, normally Hilti HY200 is what we use at work.

Lifting 5 tonne sections of concrete 100m up above public pavements you don't take chances. I did several rounds of pull-testing and they always passed. 16mm studding with 150mm embedment still holding at 9 tonnes.

It's the only thing I'd trust my life hanging on in rope access. They do sell an instant mechanical fixing, sod that.
100kg dropping is a hell of a shock force.

When I bolted a large commercial washing machine (*) to the concrete slab in my workshop, expanded anchors (in ever increasing sizes!) kept pulling out with the vibrations. When I went to chemical anchors I had no further trouble.

(* unlike domestic machines commercial / launderette type washing machine have no internal suspension or dampers but are bolted to an RSJ which in turn is bolted to the floor. The RSJ creates extra height as water is just dumped out as they have no pump either!)
