My old head stalker could fix that in the dark. He sorted his mk2 escort van out with a drain hole, none of us knew it had a leak, odd!

I got a message over summer "Any idea how to fix this Hoover?". I tried to talk her through dismantling it to find the probably worn out brushes. She couldn't sort it so when I came back to uni she said "My mum's left a project for you".

Took it all apart, the brushes were enclosed in the motor, not very serviceable but I got it open, loads of life left in the brushes.

There's a triac in the foreground near the tweezers, luckily spotted one of the solder joints had melted so I soldered that back up, reassembled it, soldered a capacitor back on that fell off another board and it works again.

The best part, the friend's mum gave me eighty quid. I was expecting about a tenner maybe, it's an old Miele made before there were power restrictions on them so she was very grateful to have it back.

Fixed the poor designed captive bolts on my feed rollers

Sharpened and washed 6 tracksaw blades and stripped cleaned fitted a new seal to my dust extractor.

All ready for another week

Together with my 15 year old son rebuild this. When fabricating a year ago we dicided to cut away piece of the rear axle boxsection to clear for a greater sprocket wheel. Now it slowly bend so made reinforcements, spraypaint and realigned chains. Best build ever.

Small cnc mill semi working again. Just the tool changer to sort out now . Spindle is whisper quiet at 8000rpm so, hasn’t had a hard life. Always a concern when you buy machines in a non running state, even more do when the previous owner turns out to be a multiple personality bellend ....

Doing some work for a tree surgery firm repairing machinery lately. Broken drive belt cover brackets on a stump grinder, various welding on wood chippers, snapped tipper body hinge and a horrendous (read: cheap) exhaust repair on a 9t 360° excavator that'd been welded badly many times before.



Had some funny issues with the Kemppi. Not sure if it's because it hasn't been used for a year or poor power supply.

Fixed the bridge on my Tanglewood guitar. Got up one morning and the bridge was at 45’ due to string tension and had damaged the wood it was attached to. Thought it was shot and left it for about a year until last week.
Borrowed an F clamp from my dad and stuck some gorilla glue under it and before restringing purchased a Bridge Doctor which is a block of wood with a nylon post into which a screw is fixed once you’ve drilled a hole in the bridge then you fit a dowel pushed against the tail stock and cut it 10mm short of the finished length of the block and fit a grub screw to lever the bridge against the tail stock to keep the bridge under tension so it can’t happen again. Really it’s meant to take a belly out of the sound board but in this case it’s fixed my scrap guitar. Fitted a new set of strings tonight and it plays lovely.

Today I fixed my excavator, a lump of steel ripped one of the tracks off, as they were at the end of their life I changed the pair.
Never easy when the thing is so far of road, I dragged one track up to it with the delicious and fitted that.

Tracked it off site to fit the other.
