had some mix left over so sorted out next doors wall and fitted a capping stone from my demolished wall

and a trailer load of permeable block paving collected.

ready to lay block!

got the block paving on the driveway started today.

in 2 hours it went from this:

to me out of block. im half way down the drive, so just have to get 1 pallet of blocks and its done.

My Bosch 12 volt multi tool was making one hell of a noise today so I thought I'd strip it down for a looksey.
It was full of white powder, probably plasterboard and the motor bearing howled badly.

I blew it all out and gave the motor bearings a drop of oil each, the drive spline some grease
and the gearbox some white spray grease as I couldn't see any in there but didn't what to strip it down.

Much better.

Now it's much quieter!

Trimmed the flex on my favourite angle grinder.

It packed up the other day, and I had a suspicion it was the flex which had been looking ropey for a while.

Tested for continuity and the L conductor was not conducting, so I slowly worked in from the ends cutting it off at each iffy looking bit, testing for continuity until I found a working section.

About 3 cuts and a foot of cord later, re-stripped and reattached, happy whirring sounds.

I don't know why it's my favourite, especially as it's heavier than the other two 4½" grinders, but it's always the electric grinder I reach for first.

^ I need to do something similar with my die grinder, as the flex outer is breaking up around the end of the strain relief boot and one day soon one of the wires will break. If I recall correctly, it's soldered inside, so a bit more of a pain. Every time I use it (a lot at the moment, as I've left all the weld grinding until last) I wonder how long before it stops.

The rivet holding one of the straps on Mrs Robo's riding hat bag had rusted and failed.

A small pop rivet with a washer either side and some brownie points for me

2 KTM 125's, both none runners..

They were both in bits to a degree when they arrived.
Did the usual, check for fuel and spark, check flywheel is in time, check cam timing, check compression etc.

Both needed valve shimming (but not 0 clearance).

No DTC's stored, all looked good on live data.

The fault, the bloomin plug caps!. Both tested fine at 1kohm resistance, both plugs fired fine out of the bike etc.

You cannot buy the cap seperate to the coil (£60) BUT the caps look like they came from Poundland, cheap s..t.

Found some suitable deep reach replacements, used some quality BERU silicone HT leads.

Both fired straight up.

No wonder KTM have ended up where they are knocking this stuff out..

Had a customer drop of some turntable fenders off a big John Deere tractor for some repairs. Quite a cool idea, they move out of the way when the wheels are at full lock or you are going over rough ground with lots of steering angle on.

I had theses kicking around for a long time. From a magnet fishing trip in the Kennet and Avon canal.

After soaking in warm citric acid and a bench grinder wire brush.

Them after warming the metal up a bees wax and linseed oil mix was applied.

Theses, like the Footprint spanners have been waiting for attention for too long.

This chip meant that a lot more work was going to be needed.
The blade was removed and the whole blade was dressed back to keep the shape and to remove the ding.
Then the blade was heated to a dull red, dumped into clean oil. The edge was warmed to a dark straw colour.

The tang was heated to red hot and allowed to cool slowly. The handle was cleaned up French lacquer was applied.

3 rusty lumps of metal, in the shape of hammers.

The middle one here had a dead shaft.

But all the rest had this issue.

Mullered ends.

The heads were easy to remove. They were all cleaned up. The peins were reshaped with a grinder.

Then each heads was baked to a red heat and dumped into old engine oil. Then cleaned up again and tempered to a deep blue.

Bugger I said and re did it.

Coffee stained handles, finished with Lavender bees wax.
