I had steps down into the old bit of the house and a suspended timber floor with no proper solum ventilation so took the whole lot up. Leveled with type 1/ DPM/ concrete slab then 180mm insulation and ufh with a 40-45mm anhydrate screed.
Normally with UFH you need some insulation under the slab for UFH. Have done some big jobs where the slab is big enough that it's U value works with no insulation as most heat loss from a concrete slab in contact with the earth is from the first meter or so around the perimeter.

A lot of small jobs.
Both my boiling stoves were in need of some TLC
The Mica film is very important. It ensures a clean burn.
A new wick is not burning nice. So I let it settle then trimed true.
The yellish stuff is Apple scented Bee's wax.
The double burner stove got the same TLC.

The manifold valves on my Velta/Upinoor underfloor heating are 20 years old and are beginning to stick shut so ordered 20 new valve inserts. They were supposed to come with an installation tool, but didn't.
The new valves have a 9mm hex socket and the old are closer to 11mm so it wouldn't have helped me remove the old ones.
The old are brass, the new ones are plastic and max tightening torque is 3Nm. So found some spare Allen keys, drilled out the ends for the valve stem, and chopped the 9mm key down, which was conveniently the same size as the socket on the Draper torque screwdriver. Two very annoying valves replaced, the rest I'll do later.

Attempted to turn a bushing today and discovered my lathe has froze up, the grease in the bushings and bearings that is; so I accomplished nothing.

My compressor is now working
Its a bitsa, I painted the tank a few months back but never got round to finishing it off, need to run the plasma cutter plus a few air tools so got it sorted tonight
Didn't have a pipe to connect the pump to the tank so made one out of 15mm copper and a collection of fittings
Picked up a drive belt today and fitted the motor, belt, plumped in the pressure switch and wired it all up
When I sprayed the tank, I plugged the fitting for the drain valve with a bit of wood rammed in the hole, then forgot about it. Now the compressor is assembled and I have an imobile Jeep in the garage I couldn't tip the compressor over to get it out, pump pliers completely failed so manage to tip it over at an angle against the wall and drill as much of it out as I could then fired up the compressor to force out what bits of wood was left, no pictures of that bit
So far only 1 leak, from the drain plug adaptor, have resealed it and will fill the tank tomorrow and see if its sorted

The Argocat has always been a bit of a pig to drive because of a crappy throttle linkage. We also find it a bit annoying because it used to have one of those motorcycle twisty throttle things, so just as you pull back on the brake lever you accelerate as well. Anyway an investigation found one of the ears crucial to holding the Bowden cable in was missing - so I nicked a brake lever from my sisters bike (
) and in a rare turn of good fortune the diameter of the handlebars was exactly the same.
Wee bit turning on the lathe to drill out the centre of some M12 threaded bar and then slit it with a grinder to hold the 90 elbow in place (crucial to keeping the cable in the right place), then chucked some solder in there for good measure. Happened to have a convenient hole in the bulkhead so used that.
Then onto an actual bit of welding and welded some quick and dirty brackets to mount a light bar on the roll cage
And then do something about the cooling for the brake discs - this is meant to take air from a little blower and direct it over the brake discs that do the steering... Not doing much (useful) directing.
A quick scavenge found a piece of piping from a 300Tdi Defender air intake which was just the right length and almost the right diameter. Was perfect at one end and a little small at the other so a tube and some sleeving joined everything together.
Bit of a mad panic but it's being loaded onto a trailer tomorrow and we're off to the Highlands for Christmas and a bit of stalking so lights and steering would be useful.

Alas no before image.
This pot and pan set was steped on by the uncle who was enjoying a beer.
No time to go get another one. so I was asked to try my best.
The loop handles were replaced with OE welding rods. The lids needed tweeking flat.
The pans were made round by dressing them onto drills.
One happy family.
