Stuck Sprocket

It would have been handy if they had drilled the holes straight but im not kidding one is about 15 degrees off parallel , I guess i could make a big slide hammer to suit . Do you think it would do any harm to the motor though ?

It shouldn’t hurt the motor, the motor normally only runs the planetary gears, that shaft will be supported on two big bearings with the planetary gears around it, the motor should be isolated from the sprocket.

I can't see the pix very well close up, is there by chance a hydraulic pop off
fitting ?
Might be in the center of the shaft, might be radial angled in on the sprocket.

if you're feeling strong a decent big hammer in each hand battering both sides at the same time works well

This how my FiL would have done it but he’d also have broken everything else near hand! The hub would be off though

I was going to suggest similar. It's a large piece of steel, with the pullers wound on beat the s*** out of it with a copper hammer. Vibration is your friend.

I wound as much pressure as I dare loads of release fluid and a double tap or 2

now another issue I was expecting a bolt on housing for the seal but its just round with no obivious way its held on





Surely it cant be just threaded on ? wouldnt that be risky as a chance of it unscrewing if something got wedged in there ?

It cant unwind as it has the sprocket clamped against it
does it look solid of could it be a tin cover for a seal?
Is it just a spacer that is corroded on.
Silly question, what digger?

Can't see a problem, bit of nutlock on the threads when reassembly, or make a bespoke tab washer. I assume the direction of rotation keeps the shaft bolt tight.

its a solid lump of metal looks cast , just think its odd as no flats on it or holes for a pin spanner

it must contain the seal would be pretty dopey if you had to strip the motor to change output seal

Its a Powerfab Samurai I bought it about 25years ago built in 1997 was the last machine they built I believe

didn't they make the little tow behind ones on wheels?
Just wondering if you can see a make of motor on the drive unit? may give you have a chance of finding a service sheet for it.

there is a plate on the motor i think its worn though i'll check with a torch in a bit

If it was threaded on, how would you be expected to undo it to service the seal?
If that were the case I'd expect it to be shaped allowing a tool to be used to unscrew it.

This has been an ongoing project for a few years now, mostly because of the frustrating lack of information on the interwebs about these elusive creatures. Things are starting to happen now so thought i would put this out there, who knows, might help someone, or you can just skim though and look at the pictures its a bit of an epic so ill just do a little bit at a time when i have the chance until caught up.

That seems like a really dopey idea , if i cant get the seal housing from the outside off im going to live with it leaking ive got a drum of oil

he's been offline for a few months , I rebuilt mine engine out new pins and bushes about 15 years ago then changed it to joystick control and completely changed the hydraulics a few years back not really had to touch the undercarriage till now

so ive had this for 15years now was quite low hours from a country estate originally orange its a Powerfab Samurai i dont think they made many. It has a Mitsubishi L3E diesel about 20hp so powerful for a 1 1/2 ton machine made in 1995.



All was going well until pump went wrong in brother-in-laws front garden when the input shaft to the pump sheared . Major issue was that it was a variable displacement Rexroth that you just cant get spares for and £1800 to replace ! I though ok easy then chuck a big vane pump on and back in business... nope closed circuit system so when levers...
