I lost both my parents last year and their boat was the last thing to sell on to complete probate. So to get rid of my sister for good I decided to take their boat on as part of my inheritance. She is a 12 meter dutch steel cruiser they had built in 1993. Over the last 5 year's my dad's I'll health meant he couldn't keep up with the maintenance so it went down hill rapidly.
She had a teak deck that was rotten that with the assistance of my mates we removed, I welded up the holes to make her watertight on top and I'm painting the deck at the moment.
The big problem is with the hull, the keels have sat full to the brim with water and yesterday it let the water out.
So she wasn't far from sinking. I'm booking a survey to see the extent of Over plating I will need to do.
I've got a stick welder on site any suggestions on rods to use as my daily welding is not and tig
