Here's mine I built recently for small knives, it doesn't look the best but does the job. I need to finish it off now with some paintBe good to see how it turns out and how you get on grinding the bevels. I've got the spring I had to have changed on the truck waiting to be used for something similar. Need to build the forge yet but seeing others do it helps build some motivation.
Loving the look of how this is turning outGot 10 minutes spare tonight. No engineers blue here, just one of those paint pens! Did the job and looks cool. Bevel is 13mm from the edge. Not sure wether to do a Scandi grind or put a second bevel on it. One thing I do know, I need some decent files and possibly a bench grinder with a linisher attached. What’s a decent brand of flat files? Hers some pics of tonight’s progress and the templates

Not in the right order
good choice on the wood there
It’s the spalted beech that most liked the look of. I think once it’s shaped and oiled it will look really good.
What oil would folk recommend? Danish oil perhaps, I dunno
on the big chopper I did a few weeks back, I just used liberon furniture wax as that's all I had. its come up a treat
Ive never used any wood oils
Find a nice looking bit and then oiling - I think the selection is the key bit to it.I can cut trees down but have not much idea on how to make wood look nice
Osmo Polyx is what we used on it here. Very hard wearing and really nice to use. Some shots from just now, this about five years since I did it with osmo and it’s still like when it was first done. It’s the spalted beech that most liked the look of. I think once it’s shaped and oiled it will look really good.

Wasnt it mild steel?....how have you heat treated it?
and has it hardened? Not a hundred percent sure what steel it is. It was very sparky when hit with a grinder, presume carbon steel. We just heated till it was cherry red, quenched in oil.
and has it hardened?
