A friend got one off amazon and the beam is solidly visible in normal air. Suspect it is somewhat more powerful than the 5mw? rating...... That my little green laser is solid!

As some of you know, when I was a kid growing up I delivered milk, not just at school holiday time, ALL the time, every day and in the bad winters, the really bad ones, I didn't perhaps go to school but I certainly did one if not two Milk Rounds. Family business you see my dad was a processing dairy, we took in several thousand gallon of bulk milk every day and sent it out every day as pasteurised bottled milk and we had twenty odd Milk Floats, complete with the nightmare known as rounds staff! (hence my opinions about electric vehicles). One thing I could guarantee was if the weather was bad, the rounds staff, some of them, would develop mysterious sudden illnesses. I would also know for certain I would be doing at least one and on one memorable occasion three Milk rounds.
How we got on with the truly awful cold weather gear of the day I just don't know. I always remember being wet and freezing cold, especially my feet. If I wore wellies the snot would inevitably get over the tops and they were not the warmest things to wear back in the day. Often when it was bad we would go home for a change of clothing and a warm, I don't have any good memories of those days and if it was now my parents would be in jail for child abuse!
Local farmer had a delivery round - he used rear engine VW pickups so usually got up our hill in winter, especially with the kids he employed either standing on the rear bumpers, or bouncing off them.
I remember freezing feet in wellies, soaking wet and freezing cold hands in knitted gloves.

Snow brings down building, trees, ( and then powerlines)..... whilst rain runs off.
Plus I don't have to plow nor shovel it.
Plus, the highways don't get salted.

FWIW Snow stops ambulances, fire trucks and police from responding.

Reading the other night that Network Rail were renting a 50 year old loco from a preserved railway as it had mini ploughs fitted to perform route checks and snow clearing in the midlands area. Similarly, they were using 60 yr old locos to drive full size ploughs in Scotland.

I sent my cousin in NZ a pic of our snow covered garden so he sent me one of his and told me it was 30°C
Temperature rose enough and rain followed after so gone by morning
Very jealous of up north like Aberdeen with a few feet in some areas
