I've got a watch with hands and a wee numbers thing at 3 o clock what tells u the day of the month, its witchcraft I tell thee. Smart watch my @rse!
you need two then: one for daytime, one for night.I hear you fella. Try telling her that. Though having to charge it while a major reason why she wanted it ie to monitor her sleep. Is a PITA
You forgot to mention, "Daytime use only"
You don't need daylight. You forgot to mention, "Daytime use only"
Or just give d a teenager. They are never far from thier phonesYou don't need daylight.
You just need a torch, and a compass, and a star chart, and an astrolabe, and a sextant.

Well, yeah, but all you do is place it on the magnetic charger at the side of the bed or on the kitchen worktop when you go to bed.
Then grab it in the morning - pulls straight off the magnet.
Hardly a major disadvantage
I have an Amazfit BIP, I charge it about once every 30-45 days...
You would think they would have movement (cant think of correct term) charging. I could be used as an incentive to exercise
Whats its sleep tracking like?I have genuinely been amazed with the Amazfit, it's always on with downloadable screens (the Gear Fit needed you to press a button or move your wrist), counts steps, heartbeat and sleep tracking as well as having GPS, a compass, timer and stopwatch.
Yeah my perpetual motion Seiko starts ticking away every time I find it.bought at least 25 yrs. Not missed abeat.
Never needing winding, never mind charging.

Why do you need to track sleep?Whats its sleep tracking like?
If I feel tired when I wake up I know I had a crap night. Why do you need to track sleep?
So, to expand on that. Previously I had a Samsung gear fit 2, came free with my phone.
Charging, even every other day was a pain. Typically I'd charge it every day although it would do two.
So when it died (although within warranty so I actually got it replaced) top of the list was battery life.

On the "smart" side it does notifications (inc displaying the message on it) and weather (pulled from the app) but doesn't let you respond to them.
Downsides is it's not waterproof enough to swim in (IP68/"Submersion into fresh water of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes, but should not be worn during swimming or bathing.") and functionality is limited compared with for example the Apple smart watches that let you pay for goods with them...but then that battery life!
The primary reason as I understand it is that it isn't a full blown android/apple device running a beefy processor and a cut down full blown multi-tasking Android/IOS operating system but rather a bare metal "OS" that only does one thing at a time and prioritises battery life.
I've genuinely *lost* (well, misplaced) the charger a few times because it lasts for so long between charges!
Stops you overwinding your watchWhy do you need to track sheep?
