Saw this video today about a Company that is reproducing a Vise which was developed and manufactured about 100 years ago in the USA.
I had not heard of it before, a " Cardinal " Vise, originally by Cardinal Tool Company.

I was more interested in having a look at their old original vise shown, which is at 11:27 minutes into the video. Thought it would be of interest here.

That was brill I really enjoyed that. I've never seen a release mechanism like that on an engineering type vice although I have seen it on a Rededa woodworking one. Cool idea. Got to say I preferred the old original one.

They're certainly pricey new though ! I suppose that Illustrates why so many (inferior) products are made abroad these days as they'll be "good enough" for most folk but a fraction of the price... I hope the company does do well.

I would think as far as we here are concerned, its most likely the search will be for an Original.

Quick question for you experts out there.

On my new Fortis swivel jaw vice, the plate on the front of it that the spindle for the winding handle passes through & also the QR is mounted on, appears to be brass. Is that part being brass normal on one of these ? Does anyone know why it's brass ??

I've attached a couple of pictures that hopefully will show it & the shiny edges to it.
