why the love of hard handles?

too hard to grip once your hands are dirty/wet/oily etc.

beleive it or not those Magneson ones from B+Q are very good.....
we get em here but not Wera.....If i want them I need to order from Germany....

I would not dream of buying a Snap On screwdriver now.

I used to rate CK - but can't find them to buy locally.

CK quality not what it used to be either. Needed a 10mm spanner away from my toolbox. Went into a local town‘s hardware shop that just happened to stock CK. Bought for a high street price, was scrap by the end of the day, I have bought cheese that was harder than the steel that was made out of.

We get that range here Frank,the Magneson tools are as good as they need to be. The cantilever side cutters are the dogs danglers and only about £10.

I’ve broken two Stanley Phillips screwdrivers this week, any recommendations for a decent brand please? I don’t mind buying a set if need be.

Theres the answer, don’t buy Stanley! I bought a set of Stanley Fat Max screwdrivers & the Pozi had lost the edges after about half a dozen screws. Complete waste of money, bad when you think old Stanley stuff was quality.

I am concerned that Mark, the guy who runs the site is going to give up so if I have a couple quid spare I buy PB Swiss tools as the next supplier may not be as comprehensive in stock as he is.

I don't think you can beat them. Everything they make is beautifully finished and perfect quality. I have s lot of their screwdrivers, screwdriver bits, hex keys, punches, chisels, etc. It's all exceptional stuff.

Im not precious about screwdrivers but its got to feel nice in the hand and be a good fit in the fixing, I dont want anything that looks like the handle is made out of a boiled sweet!

I swear by Lidl ones ( red handles) - ill loose them before they wear out, big handles for my arthritic fingers flat ones used to muller floorboards when the primadonna wood faries are too busy miterbonding MDF together to lift the floors for us.

Especially on ratchets. Some came with, many were retrofitted. (You can now buy loose hard handles to retrofit. I used to buy screwdrivers, remove the shank and drill them out.)
