A bigger hole has been made... Cut the reinforcing bracket off and then cut out the bottom rail of the chassis.

Some more plasma action on the sheet of 2mm but before I could bend it I needed to reinstall some fingers in the bender after @fizzy took them out to do his trailer wheel arches.

Bear in mind that the engine is good, gearbox is perfectly serviceable as are most other bits. It's only a couple of dozen bolts to put everything back on.

Should have got some more grinding cutting discs, certainly getting my use out of these (actually use the two to the left a bit more before moving onto the slightly bigger ones).

But we have a repair section ready for welding back in.

Fitment is actually better when you pull it into place properly but I'll have to tack various bits first.

So clean up the inside whilst I can, treat what I can and perhaps spray some weld through primer liberally before welding it up.

Some Bilt Hammer Deox Gel applied last night, washed off this morning and then blow dried it with the hot air gun.

Some liberal application of weld through zinc rich primer where I could

And the repair patch.

Then some brief lathe work on the JCB bushes and then to the farm to help with shearing , got back half an hour ago.

And it's in. Not my best welding but far from my worst, most of it will be hidden thankfully so no need to tidy them up just for aesthetics. I will probably dress the curved one and redo the bit near the bottom as it's the only bit that will be visible.

No is the edge of the weld where the cross member was. I haven't ground it back flush yet. Basically what's to the left is a reinforcing plate over the top of the original chassis.

I can't remember off the top of my head but it looks like they've split the original chassis in 3 rather than 2 and lengthened it.
