You're right in what you are saying Parm some of them units just recirculate the fumes. But if you can stick the unit outside the door or through a window, it could helP.

I believe the proper systems are the type from companies such as "FilterMist" that use electrostatic attraction to separate the oil/water from the air.

By the way, them ESAB carryvac systems are next to bloody useless. Actually I don't like any portable fume extraction systems. Much better going to a centralised filter system that vents outside, I always feel there is still a smell to reclaimed air.

There are systems which reclaim the heat and pumps it back round, that's the only one I'd consider otherwise I'd rather dump the filtered air outside.

I use something similar on my CO2 laser cutter to get the smoke and fumes outside. Works pretty well.

The flexible hose is pretty cheap just need a cheapo magnetic dti mount to get it near the source?

That would make a good group buy for3 or 4 users quite close who could collect 5 litres. As its 65-1 dilution splitting it into half would probably be overkill.

I purchased 20 litres from some one on here. Possibly was fizzy ...which is a bit ironic . I seem to remermber it was an unpaid delivery consignment.

Anyway I have been using that stuff (where ever it came from) in a dark blue container but its pretty smokey. I seem to remember @doubleboost using something recently and that was pretty smokey.

I think about 50:1 is probably ideal for milling and turning but even then the 20l would make 1000l of coolant, so works out a cheap coolant. It also seems very nice, no sticky residue and the translucent green makes seeing the parts on the CNC mill very easy.

Who are people using to get rid of their coolant? To be honest I drain into a 25 litre drum and let the water evaporate, then chuck the oil in with the waste oil.

I never dispose of it as such. The water evaporates and I top up with water and then after a few times I need to top up with mix to keep the concentration right.
The stuff I do lose is on parts , my hands etc
The only time I actually dispose of coolant is when I change types such as going from the milky type I used before to the Rocol I use now, then I just put in the waste oil bin at the harbour but I think I have only done that a couple of times.

I was looking at using one of these but as I need air to power the drawbar airtool I suppose its just as easy...in fact probably easier as I need a 12 volt power suppy.

I assume if the nozzle was changed to a conventional one and air regulated it would not mist but become a small white water type flow?

Different. Smoke is vaporised mineral oils and additives. Definitely bad for you. Oils are carcinogenic let alone the additives.

Aerosolised water based metal working fluid is soluble oil plus biocides plus whatever trans oils and metallic compounds have contaminated the oil. Plus water soluble metalworking fluids can be full of bacterial and fungi.
