I reckon your 24 id seal will work ok, there is normally a bit of room to spare with seals.

I'm on number 3 in 3 years. sold one kept two.
Never got to do metalwork at school but always wanted to play on a lathe. Seemed silly not to.
2 lathes and a mill drill for under 550, cheaper than the pub for 3 years,
Just gotta watch for the bargain that's close and have a transport plan in place.
Plenty of room now to drift the bit out without crunching into the quill now:
The whole point of the slot is that the parallel side of the removal drift bears against the top of the slot in the quill, the taper side then drives against the bottom of the slot in the arbour to eject it.
Plenty here have lathes and I'm sure someone can make you a brass top hat bush. I could do it if you could wait a while as I'm currently at sea. I'd need a bit of brass bar as I don't have much.
That little lathe could be your next restoration.
