That’s cool. A ground anchor is a really good idea. We have somewhere between 30-50 trees of varying sizes plus a 30m shelter hedge around 6m tall, there’s a constant stream of heavy garden maintenance to contend with! The second tractor will no doubt help once it’s up and running.

Ransomes ITW Shunter - The Classic Machinery Network

The machine looks similar to your own, just with wheels.

They made a few iterations. The ITW was used by BR for goods yard work. They also made machines for skimming sedation ponds and water works, dumpers, loaders, all based on the MG chassis, note the three load bearing wheels as opposed to the two on the ordinary tractors. The ITW (industrial tractor, wheeled) is rare but the implement fitted machines rarer still. I can’t see them being as fun though, the base model crawler is so versatile.

When I read that the skimmer was fitted with a Ford Crossflow I immediately thought “twin 40s”…. Says a lot about me!

Track rubbers look good. Bit expensive but it looks in ok condition. A non-sympathetic refurb has happened at some stage… needs a North West Water sticker on it, reminds me of their colour scheme

This is the description and a bigger pic

An Early (1937) MG2 Crawler, first time starter, runs, drives. Had about £800 spent on it recently. Reconditioned tracks (all new bolts, washers, rubbers) Steel flywheel (No more random cast iron flywheel breakages!) Clutch springs and seals. Exhaust system. Reconditioned carb with new sliders, jets, needle valve etc. Fan pulley. Fan guard (Not fitted) Engine is an early TB type, has a plain Ally timing cover I've never seen before and old style valve collets. Bore is excellent, valves recently (lightly) reground and timing set correctly.

Added some chain to the bumper last night so I could go nose-in to a tree that had stormfall wedged inside the basket of branches. Too hard to pull out by hand. Worked really well. Unhitch, turn around, use the chain block to tow it to the processing area. It’s been a really rainy day today but you wouldn’t really tell, the garden looks lovely in this photo.

Off to a show at the weekend. I found this old Amal carb, it has the exact same parts as mine but it’s a different model. I’m going to swap the bits over as they’re better - the float is in superb condition and the bowl has no cracks.

Good luck as it’s sprung the same fuel leak as last time! Two days to go and it’s on a trailer.

I made the circuit!

The new jets make the idle a lot more lively. It’s a lot more powerful now it’s actually getting fed properly, which is good. I won a spot prize and picked up 5l of oil which was great!

Been zooming around on this today. Someone’s fitted it with an electric motor, replacing the petrol motor, it’s a bit pathetic on anything other than flat concrete but the turning circle is incredible!

It’s not mine, for clarity, but it has set in course a series of thoughts that cannot be stopped now

Construction is basic. Buildable. Hmm.
