I've not seen a Wrigley truck with engine covers, normally just an exposed Villiers engine.

Todays purchase, an oil bath air filter, not original but I will try and substitute it for what I need. No name on it but it feels substantial enough for me. Very old and dirty.

Time for bastardising. Useless end piece cut off. Then it was time to cut the bracket off and re-form the cut steel flush with the body.

I have the bracket for the crawler, so it was time to take the other one off for a test fit. It’s tight, but it works. This is a big hurdle down.

I thoroughly degreased the filter body, washed it all out so it's sparkly clean inside and out, then packed all the wire wool inside and bolted it all together, filled it with oil then gave the crawler a fire. It works perfectly fine - result!
Those aren't rust holes, they're black paint. This filter has been black (which I think is its original colour), green, then red. I'm not going to repaint it, I love it being able to tell its story.
This can now be removed and stored pending further work on the second crawler. It's very useful having the working crawler as a test-bed for these modifications!

The Burgess style air cleaners are more common here, well i say common, it took me a couple of years to find one at a sensible price for my Petter A1 engine

I won a lawnmower for $1 on an online auction site. No details, just that it needed repair. It wasn’t working properly and there was lots of grass and grease built up inside it. Still, for a dollar, great purchase.
Day two, mower two. $20 on Facebook Marketplace, they said it’s a good one but it’s a lot rustier than mower one and needs a few bits re-making. Still, good bones and importantly, same model as the previous.
The hunt is on for five of these, I can’t be bothered paying top dollar as they’re going to lose their handles and gain towing capacity. I’m planning on making a gang-mower setup!
