At about 8 bars of pressure the domed end pops out.
That's actually a test for can quality.

I wondered if that was the same as spray cans etc which also have that same end for fires and things. At about 8 bars of pressure the domed end pops out.

Working on the theory you buy entire new shells for Minis, Midgets and MGBs, quite a lot . . .
No welding required… the vin plate is riveted onCome on it's only a weekends work of swapping parts and a bit of welding........![]()
Nope, light-weighting still going on. So plants that just about made the grade get found out as the thinner material shows up all the weaknesses, the mis-settings, wear and tear problems.I've seen it argued that a fizzy drink can is now almost perfect in terms of design. They can't be made with thinner walls nor lightened without them failing.
A book called Rust: The Longest War by Waldman is where I read about them. Interesting and irritating at the same time. The author called corrosion on aluminium rust too, and that's just plain wrong.
There's a lot of transport in most cases before they get filled and the ends seamed on - up around Carlilse a lot of the Eddie STobart trucks would have been moving a lot of fresh air around, surrounded by thin aluminium . . .So is a fizzy drink can a pressure vessel for the purposes of any regs?!
Honest wondering. They get transported all over and no one treats them like cylinders but they must have to withstand a bit of pressure I suppose. Dunno. Never thought of it.
You hear the quality checks above the incredible noise in most plants, as the dome reverses, or pops . . .I wondered if that was the same as spray cans etc which also have that same end for fires and things.
What pressure will it burst……
Coke cans today. . . or even this week . . . wander in tomorrow, next shift, next week it might be Pepsi . . . or a beer can . . . imagine the checking done after a print change - you do not want to be sending Coke cans to Pepsi for fillingThat was just one line. They had more That was coke cans
This is true, but somewhere there'll be a little bit of the chassis with a Serial No stamped in it that will need cutting out and transferring over. So there's your cutting n welding....No welding required… the vin plate is riveted on![]()
Ah….. so I’m in the right forum thenThis is true, but somewhere there'll be a little bit of the chassis with a Serial No stamped in it that will need cutting out and transferring over. So there's your cutting n welding....![]()
For cutting n welding yes, but not for vehicle cloning...Ah….. so I’m in the right forum then![]()
