Hi JP...definitely new bolts, I was lucky to get the old ones out I think so no point taking any chances as I've found in the past that strained bolts are more prone to snapping going back in for sure.
The sump has been deformed I think....not huge but on a flat surface it definitely wobbles but it could be the bolt holes themselves that are deformed. To confuse things further some models of Nissan Micra have a cork gasket + 2 end seals and some simply have sealant and 2 end seals. I think I'll straighten the sump and then trial fit to see how much space there....if there is clearly space for a cork gasket then I'll go with that I think. If there isn't room for the cork gasket then I'll have to go with sealant as putting the cork in would prevent the ends from sealing properly.
i just used to tap the holes on the sump with a ball peen hammer to bend it the other way
looks good. I like the rebuild on the pump....
The pump design is so simple yet so effective....very smart how it squishes the oil and then it has nowhere to go except up the outlet.
I have always seen it suggested to use a sealant where the gaskets end
Spot on JP....that's exactly what I read online. I've decided if I can I will use the cork gasket. I'm planning on doing a trial run with just the end seals...that should give me an idea whether the spacing for the gasket is right give the end seals that I have a re slightly larger (to account for he gasket is my guess).
The manual says sump bolts 3.6 lb ft ....which seems crazy low to me.....going to have to see how that goes I think. Am guessing I'll do a double torque....finger tight only until the corner sealant goes off.
