I had the same concern. I pulled the pulley on in the same way as I pulled the pulley shaft in. The two screws held, but I did heat the pulley up first.
You can fit the pulley to the shaft before fitting the shaft to the drill, there are holes in the pulley to access the two bearing securing screws.
I'll try to do some drawings of the puller in action.
