have you got some panel stands? ...alot of folk like to paint parts in the same position as they lay on the car , or laying them flat can help as less chance of runs but more chance of dirt landing in it

I got two of these. They have been decent. I was able to heat the doors of an estate car with one on each side of the car with panel temps ranging from 20-50c with ambient temps of 10c. After several hours the car was really warm inside so it definitely wasn't just superficial heat. Obviously would have been better to have one on each door to get more even temp distribution but I am a cheap skate and was painting in an old shed under a gazebo lol.

Same as what I sold a while back on here

was my previous bosses and told me to find a new home for it

they are good for home use

don’t use a calor gas heater as they pump moisture into the air
Drain your compressor a few days leading up to spraying in this weather they need regular emptying

I'm using a single stage DeVilbiss moisture trap/regulator after several meters of dog legged copper pipe near the compressors. Just before the spray gun is a three stage Iwata filter/regulator with coalescent, I doubt very much that I'll see any moisture with that kit. Thanks for the heads up on the Mirka product, if any little insects care to bathe in the paint I'll know what to do. Do you normally find yourself colour sanding and polishing to finish the job?

That sounds the ticket If you're spraying in a proper filtered, clean booth then you will probably avoid much wet sanding although it's normal for nibs to still occur. In the old shed where I painted it's inevitable but I found that painting under a gazebo resulted in the job not looking like it was covered in crud as long as you didn't look really closely.

I have a couple of these, you can find them for not much more than a tenner each on ebay. They do heat really well, more efficient than patio heaters (different bulbs?) and are nicely made but it says not to run them for more than 10 mins which i wish i'd realised before I bought them lol. Still useful, but the switch starts to smell of burning plastic if you leave them on for ages.

That's true, the total coat of the workshop/spray booth is 6K. Perhaps a couple of second hand lamps off eBay could be feasible.

Could have got a nice paint job for that amount.

Steve I don't have any panel stands, in fact I was going to ask about these. Are they essential, can another method suffice as to suspending the panel for work?

It all depends on exactly how clean the area is, the booth itself will be spotless and air induction has two stage filtration but obviously I can't involve exterior air and that changes things quite a lot since air will be now drawn from the workshop.

Yeah, but you'd only have got one spray job for your money paying someone else to do it.

Now you've built the workshop and spray bay, as soon as you master the painting you can have as many paint jobs as you want. I see that as a shrewd investment, or that's what I'd be telling my Mrs!

yeah you can make do with an old dustbin , make up some wooden stands , hang stuff on wires from the ceiling etc ....up to you

I'm not a painter or a bodywork person, just someone who has a go.The scooter I have been painting recently was done using left over paint I had from 5 or 6 years ago with new cheap basecoat, its done in a badly lit dusty garage with no extraction or heating other the sun.Stuff is balanced on cans, workmates, screwed to wood or strung from the roof.Old curtains and sheets are used as dust covers, newspaper for masking.

Gun wash, I'm need some of this. eBay seems the cheapest but many of the products are listed as cellulose. Due to my inexperience in this area I'm unaware as to whether I can clean a gun that's sprayed a 2K isocyanate paint with a cellulose gun wash. Anyone advise?
