Thanks for all the advice.
Up and running again. Cost me about £10 in parts including stainless nuts and bolts.
Used a 1/2 watt metal film resistor standing off the board to dissipate heat better. New Rifa caps.
Running like a watch. Strikes an arc so easy and smooth as butter.
Cleaned up the board and new heatsink paste as well.

Just watched a video on the history of Powcon. The first inverter welder. Swedish I thought they were Yank.

Mine is working like a dream. Used it yesterday to run some 3.2mm 7024 rods at about 130amps. Silky smooth
